Forums - Gaming - Can someone give me a good Witcher 1&2 synopsis?

So I'm EXTREMELY interested in Witcher 3 after today's trailer.  However I know basically nothing of the story and the basic descriptions I've read of those games are somewhat underwhelming.  Anyone wanna give me a good synopsis with possibly all the important parts of the expanded lore?  I'm sure others are in a similar situation as me and would appreciate it as well!

Its extremely deep lore honestly and has a very heavy political tone similar to Game of Thrones. Ill weite you a good synopsis in a sec bro

Geralt of Rivia isn't from Rivia.

I'm sure the game will summarize the story before you play it, they did the same thing for the Witcher 2

edit:

The Witcher 3 comes with a compendium that fills you in on the history and happenings of the previous games.

If you don't want to wait to then just google the Witcher and look at a wiki.

OP, I also suggest reading the three first The Witcher books. They're awesome, and while the events of the books and the games are parallel, you can pretty much understand THe Witcher's Universe and its characters (like Jaskier, Trish and everyone else); and it is actually a very good read; each book explains Geralt's short adventures throughout the world, instead of a one big mission!

interesting.  I'm a bit of a hard critic with books.  Is it like GoT because those keep me very entertained despite being like 800 pages average lol

I suggest reading the Witcher books or at least buy the first two games off of Steam. Great RPG franchise.

It's nothing like GoT, basing on what I know about the series/books.

The novels tells the tales of Geralt throughout his life. Except for the last two books, which dwellve on a certain matter, every other book is made from short but interesting situations Geralt has to face. Though you could say GoT and Witcher share some similarities because everything has a deep political meaning behind it.
