While i agree about that his argument and its basis is flawed too and partially agree that there is still plenty of time this gen for MS to build momentum. I hav a few issues with what you said.

One, these lower prices that you talk about, to me it sounds like all that MS development APIs will increase stuff that some people like throwing around. Problem with this way of thinking is that it completely negates the fact that nothing stops sony from dropping their prices too.

And two, all these future game announcements and new features..... again, sony could do the exact same thing too. Hell, sony has shown morpheus so far. Just saying, I think its weird using points to exonorate one party that could just as easily apply to the other guy.


Well, he was referencing current 360 owners interest in the x1 at the 399 price point.  I was demonstrating that more current 360 owners would probably be interested at lower price points.  

Plus, sonys gains dont neccesitate microsofts losses or vice versa.  Sony will always be ahead this generation, I have little doubt of that.  They will probably always be competitive with pricing as well.  Doesnt mean microsoft cant grow their business just because another company is doing better...

Similar rankings, but nowhere near the same sales numbers. The planets aligned perfectly for the PS2, and sales like that for a home console will likely never happen again.

yeah PS2 was one of those freak selling consoles,not even Wii reached that level

no. xb1 will be much higher than the original xbox. and PS4 wont reach PS2 numbers. im thinking something around 110 million, 120 million.

With the XB1 dead as a doornail globally, and 2014 falling apart in the US/UK, it's guaranteed that XB0 will fail to reach 360 numbers.

Add to that the PS4 should handily beat PS3 numbers (even with Japan dead to home consoles!).

So add 25-40m to PS3 totals
Subtract 20-30m from 360 totals

And boom : 8G totals. That's even being quite generous to the XBO, it could actually surprise us by doing even worse than it is already performing.

It would be a repeat if the PS4 launched a year earlier and dominated by the time the competition came along despite being the weakest. Aside from PS4 crushing sales, I don't see much in common with gen 6.

totally agree with everything you said! I see something like that happening, and to be honest, the PS4 favorability seems to be growing handily in the United States. EVERYONE is talking PS4 even though the X One is advertised heavily at all the game stores and the PS4 has little to none on  the windows.. but no one wants to say "oh I got an X Box One" .. because everyone else is getting a PS4. Obvioulsy there is millions of XBox fans who are chosing the One.. but many of them still agree the PS4 is probably the better of the 2, they just prefer M$ exclusives more. Nothing wrong with that. 

As far as this being a repeat of gen 6... I think it could be close.. everyone will be a lot closer but I have a feeling this crazy PS4 domination is just getting rolling... I think more and more games will be advertised exlusively for the PS4 like Watch Dogs was, and that gave literally moved consoles for the PS4 this month.. You know Call of Duty could make a switch to PS4 exclusive advertising like the 360 had last gen. They have no alligience besides to making money. and the PS4 is going to have a larger install base in every area with the best version of the game. And everyone is going to know which one is the best version because it's been no secret that the games run better on PS4 not just the greater resolution in many big games. If COD ever got 360 like advertising on the PS4, if they did that with Grand Theft Auto like the PS2, it will still sell on the X Box One, but I think this PS4 Watch Dogs exlusive advertising is going to be a new thing.. and it is going to hurt M$ and be a huge leg up for Sony in every market.
