Never, have you seen the size of an Xbox One or a PS4? yet gamers still complaint about graphics.

Even though I quoted an article related to ipads, I really think that storage is going to explode in the next 2-3 years. Cloud storage prices have dropped to almost nothing. THat will force these devices to come with much larger storage options. The makers of SSD will have to keep up price wise and so will the Apple/Microsoft/Amazon/Samsung's of the world. With game streaming being a likely future for games that will be gobbled up by the casuals (COD/HALO/GTA), the expectation of graphics will be lower than the AAA high end titles on PC or consoles. Every time one of these games(COD) comes out, everyone(mostly game forum dwellers) moans about how unimpressive the graphics and gameplay are. THe casuals love them. If you took all of the Assasins Creed and COD and GTA games and made them available to consumers on their tablets, the sales of the consoles would be crushed. |
i see things the opposite, cloud becoming so much more popular will lower demand for on devise storage.
i think everything will go streaming which is why i think psnow could be so big. it takes a very different tech to stream games than movies and right now sony is the only one with a real product. i know long term ot will kill console but i really hope sony doesn't hold back in order to preserve ps4. they need psnow on everything possible as soon as possible or someone else will do it.
It already replaced consoles, the console market has become a small shrinking niche especially the handheld market. More and more money is being made with smartphone games, in absolute numbers consoles will be be completely irrelevant in a few years.
*rubs lovely PC* At least I'm safe. Console peasants. :p
No seriously, the death of console gaming would be bad for everyone, PC gamers included. Sure we'll still get awesome indies, but the big games probably will die out, and we'll have the sub-par experiences like smartphone games currently are. There are decent ones for wasting time, but I don't see any real Bioshocks, Metroids, or Fallouts coming to phones any time soon. By real I mean AAA.

The Wii-U as a console with tablet controller however is doomed, if it wasn't already besides some strong first party titles. Wouldn't suprise me if the next iPad rivals the WIi-U in power. |
ipads sure cant, but windows tabs will beat the xbone soon, the cpu is allready stronger(same goes for ps4, the i5 is just a beast) and the gpu will get there soon with intel putting shitloads of mney behind that.
nintendo is the only safe because of the firstparty games. ms is the weakes in the bunch, they cant keep up with the other 2 and have to put down a lot of money to buy short wins with exclusiv 3rd party games.

Check your numbers, the CPU -is not- stronger, unless the PS4's CPU is a potato. Tablet i5's are low voltage, and slower than most standard laptop i5's by a significant margin. The i7's are slower as well. So the PS4 is likely more powerful in the CPU department. Windows tablets will not be getting any dedicated GPUs soon, and they won't be equalling or even rivaling consoles with the intel integrated graphics on the tablet processor die. The Intel HD graphics are underclocked on those for power saving.
Hope not. Im sure one day we will all be playing games through a streaming service similar to PS now. But that wont be for a long time yet.

The AMD 8-core CPUs are faster than most i5's, certainly the ones in laptops. These laptop ones being faster than the i5's, and often i7's found in tablets.
