Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Forza Horizon 2 Announced - Cross-gen coming this fall

The fact that they announced this pre E3 tells me they have a lot to show us at E3. I'm very excited for this year's event. I feel like the last 3 or 4 E3s were rather lackluster in terms of game announcements. I think all 3 will have a bunch to show.

Yeah, but that's not what his question was.

You were one of the people who were complaining about it being cross gen.

I don't think games are going to bad because they're cross gen, I'd just rather them be next gen exclusives instead.  Dragon Age Inquisition and Battlefield Hardline are cross gen and they're some of my most anticipated releases.

If two completely different developers are making the 360/X1 games will they even be the same game? Or do they have a very detailed blueprint to go by to make sure that the content is the same and they just have to do the technical work?

Titanfall was made by two different devs and it's still the same game...

Well, what I was asking is how does that work? Do they just get a blueprint of the game and then do the technical work? Because being two different studios I assume it's more difficult than if one studio was making two different versions. Or is part of the X1 version made and then the other developer gets it and ports that part and so on until it is finished.

i wasnt tyring to start anything with you i was just using your comment to point something out i aplogize for the confusion.  i never said that the game was going to be held back or that i wasnt intrested in due to it being cross gen just that i was surprised and that i hope the x1 verison is more then just a graphic bump

Additionally, Sony supported the PS3 up to next gen with several releases per year.  What did Microsoft develop or pay for development on the 360 in 2013?  Gears of War Judgment and that's it?  *edit*  Oh wait Zoo Tycoon and Minecraft.  In comparison to the PS3's list of 13 games.  I'm just saiyan.

Playground games are solely working on The One. So it should look great. Now 60 FPS Playground or Ill crap on your disc and send it to your head quaters. No 30 FPS BS.

Now. :)

Southern EU. That is some amazing news. EU will love this.

Sumo Digital are handling the 360 version, apparently.

Make of that what you will. I think they're pretty good developers who have done a lot of porting work in their day, so it should turn out fine.

Even though different developers are doing the different versions, all assets will be shared. I highly doubt the next gen version will have a bigger map, more varied terrain/textures, different buildings, bigger cities, more destructible objects, mud physics for rally racing.
What it will have is better effects and lighting, stable frame rate, longer draw distance, higher resolution, more detailed driving model, higher poly count car models, higher res textures. (or at least high detail range will be further)

Filling up the available disk space and ram with hugely varied sprawling landscapes would have been preferable. That could still happen, TDU unlimited somehow got crammed on the ps2 as well, and still felt plenty 'next gen' at the time.
