Forums - Sony - Good Guy Sony Will Pay For Indie Developers’ Booths at Tokyo Game Show Regardless of Platform

Forgive me, could you remind me what playstation anti-consumer 'things' you're talking about?

Off the top of my head, Rootkit DRM, Removal of Other OS feature from PS3, the whole security breach thing  on the PS3 that they waited week(s?) to tell anyone about. You cant be that old or that ignorant of the news not to see the things both these clowns(MS/Sony) have been/are doing for years. Theres more but Im leaving work and dont feel like researching atm. Sony is no different than MS. Both would drag your mother into the streets and beat her until she had detached retinas for a few bucks if they could legally do it.

Getting an XBOX One for me is like being in a bad relationship but staying together because we have kids. XBone we have 20000+ achievement points, 2+ years of XBL Gold and 20000+ MS points. I think its best we stay together if only for the MS points.

Nintendo Treehouse is what happens when a publisher is confident and proud of its games and doesn't need to show CGI lies for five minutes.

M$ back at it again.......oh wait, Sony did this, then its them being great guys.

How is it money hatting when they're paying for indie devs regardless of platform?  It's then showing a nice gesture and then hopefully if that game sells well enough because of all the exposure, they might port it over to the PS4.

I personally think it's a waste as indies don't sell consoles, but whatever.

That they waited two days, not weeks, to tell people about, and not even a full 48 hours, so technically not even two days.  They wanted to make sure what was actually hacked and stolen so they could give accurate information on what was stolen, which is what most businesses do when their information gets hacked.  They're not going to cause any sort of panic or make people waste their time if the need to do so isn't there.

The remainder of the month, 24 days actually, they were fixing their servers and building new security measures around them to make sure this doesn't happen again.

I forgot about the otherOS removal. Ok, I would say that was shady...
But....rootkit was sony BMG...not playstation
And the security breach where a hacker group decided to specifically target them quote/unquote "for the lulz".... that's a bit unfair to use that as an example of playstation being anti-consumer

Compare this to a new policy that basically says "you can't sell your used games anymore unless you pay us".

I know there are anti-consumer things SONY has done. But Sony is huge. Blaming xbox for windows:me being shit wouldn't be fair either. It's not the same division. I'm specifically asking about playstation, because my point was that people assume the best for Playstation because of its history. I dunno why you're dragging all of Sony into it. Especially a rootkit thing that happened nearly 15 years ago.

fairly cool move from Sony letting the little guys come to the big show without having to reach into their own limited budgets. They really are trying to raise up a new generation of game dev between the AAA stuff and the indie junk filled with "retro" graphics and Ironically shit gameplay which has become very stale.

Why not check me out on youtube and help me on the way to 2k subs over at www.youtube.com/stormcloudlive

One thing that was very anti consumer by Sony was the millions of failed lasers on the ps2. They tried to pretend it wasn't an issue for years until they lost a class action lawsuit. That's huge. That's Sony playstation division. Yes, the Xbox 360 was a pos, but that never cost me a penny, and didn't cost ms a class action lawsuit, because they covered them, even if the reasons were to look good by doing so, they still didn't wait to lose a class action lawsuit. To me, not covering the millions of faulty ps1-2 systems is pretty shady. But, I will say Sonys third party relations are second to none, and that is a positive, because it is about bringing games.
