They obviously played better footbal than anyone else on that Euro, beeing defensive does not equal beeing bad. Football is made of both ofense and defense, if you excell in defense (like Greece did on that Euro) and you do it so well that nobody gets to score a goal againts you and you are good at scoring when you have oportunist than youre definetly playing better football than the oposition.
In 1982 Brazil had a squad that played a super ofensive football, it was a joy to watch, but the Italian side on that world cup was much more efficient and defeated Brazil. I am Brazilian and I have no problem in admiting that even tough that 1982 team played the most fun to watch football ever played, it wasnt the better team (or at least didnt play better x Italy). Its not rocket science, whoever plays best wins, and you cna play better than your oposition in a lot of diferent ways not only beeing ofensive. |
At last somebody who understands that defence does not equal a bad team.
However Costa Rica had only 1 noteworthy chance plus quite a bit of luck by their side...(and after taking out Greece{my national team} in a similar way{ not that we were much better or something, we have SHIIIT attack} I couldn't watch them take out the Netherlands {my 2nd fav team, it's always been} on penaltys again.Thank god things turned out well. I would have been really depresed otherwise. They fully deserved it in my opinion.
Not because Costa Rica played defensively, but because they had only 1 scoring chance. They tried to win everything on penaltys.
Anyway. What's up with Navas by the way....out of the 9 penaltys in both matches he only caught one.Why do the media treat him like he is the one and only.
I want to see Germany vs Netherlands on the finals. (my two fav teams,in every world cup)
Oh! I was also dissapointed by Belgium, mainly by their coach.
