So, when it comes to semis...
I was sure that Brazil would manhandle Germany, which played a very uninspiring and disappointing game with France and all in all is the worst German team on a WC since 2002 (which was probably the worst team ever to reach the Finals), but with Neymar breaking his back nobody knows if they show up at all. I hope Oscar leads them from now on, but it's no longer the same team. They are a huge question mark and Germany is, well, Germany. Even if the team is quite bad, there still is a certain quality to their game. On top of that Germany is easily the most luckiest team in the history of this sport. They just always have everything lining up their way. Obviously, it takes some skill to take advantage of it, but nobody has this much luck. So again, they play their worst football since 2004, but will probably make the Finals for the first time since, unless Brazil really grows and surprises everyone.
Argentina vs. Netherlands. Argentina is on the rise, Netherlands (as I expected from the start) are nosediving. I felt it after the previous game already (my friend told me it was the typical game 4 syndrom), but the game with Costa Rica was the final proof for me. I hope Di Maria is healthy, though the sub (Perez?) was also great. At this point Argentina is the favourite for me to win it all. They played a good and solid game today, they have the best player in the world, their next opponent will be more exhausted than them and the tournament takes place in Brazil, their arch-rival. Winning there means more to them than to any other team except Brazil.
