Would quite like to see Ireland at the World Cup actually (I mean real Ireland, not that northern one), but come on... we can't have one of Britains best ever players in Gareth Bale never get to a World Cup can we? Y'all should have beat Serbia so that both Ireland and Wales could have made it!

I actually don't care if we qualify or not.  I go for the beer and the meet ups with friends.  The actual football matches Ireland usually play are putrid. 

 

The euros were actually different with nice open matches against sweden,  Belgium,  Italy and france. I actually enjoyed them for the football too.

This is why I've been saying recently that USA will win an International trophy before England does.

Are you excluding the CONCACAF Gold Cup? Because otherwise they've won a lot of them (including this year's one) since the last time England won something

No, teams don't get stars on their uniform for winning the Gold Cup. We all know that's the real reason everybody wants to win the World Cup.

It's still an international trophy though. There's no doubt that the Euros would count as one if England somehow won it, so why shouldn't the north American equivalent count?

If you're comparing the performance of two European teams, it would make sense to include the Euros. But if you compare how many championships two teams from different continents won, I would just include the World Cup.
