I hope Brazil gives us a hand lol

That's never happening. Brazilians are patriotic, love playing for their country and give all every match, especially at home where they never lost to anyone for qualifiers. Chile can MAYBE grab a point playing good, but that's certainly not going to happen due to Brazil not trying to win.

Theorically speaking Argentina has it easy, Ecuador is out now, but since they're struggling so much with goals, who knows what could it happen. Either way, I think they can escape with a 1-0 in Quito.

Chile's situation is also kind of complicated. If they lose, and if Argentina wins and Colombia and Peru tie, they're out, and such scenario is very possible.

Also Paraguay will leapfrog Chile if they win and Chile lose. There are so many different scenarios, it's the most exciting qualifying campaign ever.

Holy! I completely forgot about Paraguay. Ok, I think odds are really against Peru, unfortunately. They must win, if not, they will depend on disappointing results from Paraguay and Argentina. Damn, I can't wait!

My bet with The_Liquid_Laser: I think the Switch won't surpass the PS2 as the best selling system of all time. If it does, I'll play a game of a list that The_Liquid_Laser will provide, I will have to play it for 50 hours or complete it, whatever comes first.

Yup. Argentina is on the edge now.

Peru are so close to making the World Cup! I think FIFA though are hoping that Argentina end up qualifying.

Peru certainly has a shot but  Colombia will have to play serious after Paraguay beat them, so not really that close. imo it's looking like the qualified team are going to be Brazil, Uruguay, Colombia as the first 3 with Argentina and Paraguay (they play Venezuela) fighting for 4th place/gauntlet. I'm expecting Chile to finish above Peru, both missing the world cup

I think if Peru beat Colombia they are good.

Also I just realized that if Chile & Argentina lose they can both be eliminated depending on other results, that would be hilarious.

According to my calculations, the last time Argentina lost a game was 83 years ago, so I think that's pretty unlikely. In contrast, the last time they won was only 77 years ago.

Are you memeing or was actually 83 years ago the last time Argentina lost in Ecuador?

Instead of answering, I'm going to propose a challenge: try to find the one time I said "in Ecuador".

Yeah, that's what I thought, lol. I was just making sure. Sorry for expecting actual discussion.

Let me dream :(

I do wonder why people expect Argentina to do great things just because they have Messi. At Barcelona it's a team setup for him. Argentina isn't, these players are good in their own right, it's not Messi's team. Chile on the other hand play as a team, while is why they are better.

Hmm, pie.

Well then the obvious question is... why isn't the team set up for Messi? Or even if not specifically for him then at least to get the most out of the players they do have? On paper they have a fantastic team even without Messi, so it seems fair to expect a lot from them.

Indeed but do you think they can set them up just for one guy when they may only train together for a few weeks a year? When some of those players are world class and think "Why aren't they setting this up for me?"

Argentina seem to currently be the Belgium of South America, superb individual players but yet to play as a team, their own individual skill has carried the team through.

Hmm, pie.
