How can citizens be "foreign"? Explain that.

Could you stop with the rhetorics?

I just told you that France should have a rule that you have to be born in France. Citizenship is just a stamp on a paper.

Even the guys who are born in France but who's parents are immigrants, I don't see them as French. Maybe in a couple of generations their offspring will bee French, but now they aren't.

Xhaka in the Swiss team said he would refuse to score a goal against Albania. "I feel completely Albanian". Even though he was born in Switzerland. And it's similar with many other immigrants and their children, it takes a long time before they feel like they become nationals of their new country.

So foreign legion is a perfect term (unfortunately I think it was Marien LePen who coined it).

If Xhaka doesn't score the federation will take a measure against that I'm sure. How long did your study on nationalist sentiment on immigrants take?

That's who you want to be associated with: Marine LePen.

A racist scum and a lunatic, I don't have problems with your reasoning but if that's how you think, we should go all the way back in the gene tree and consider French only the Gaules and not the mutts that came from the mix with Romans.

But the federation having to take measures proves that all is lost already. The will has to be there. The identity has to be there.

Your example about the Gauls is good, because that was like 2,000 years ago. I do accept that "Nationalities are fluid, they can change" like Ka-pi96 said. To an extent, with time. Given a long time, of course cultures and races can melt together and create new cultures. Eventually France' true identity will be a melting pot, and their national team will feel genuine. Kinda like the USA is today.

It doesn't feel like a Welsh team if nearly half the players were brought up in England.

Yet at the same time you say the French team doesn't feel French despite the fact the players were brought up in France?

Cut the rhetorics. I'm sure you understand my argument.

A player being brought up in the country where he will represent the national team is one requirement, but there's more to it.

With a French or Swiss player it's not enough that he is brought up in France/Switzerland, if he keeps his foreign identity.

You know what... let's talk about soccer before this get out of hand.

I wanted to Slovakia to score so we could have a better match but Germany is putting on a good show as well as a team. Ich liebe es

Perfect time to lose to Italy again.

Boateng should be easily in the top 3 canditates for the Golden ball. If we still had Lahm we would have the perfect defense with Lahm, Hummels, Boateng and Kimmich. Germany is still without conceded goals btw.

That was a great performance by Belgium! Didn't think they were that good.

hmm not so happy how Belgium played, to many goals missed and silly yellow cards (stress I guess)..

And the above discussion is a bit funny, my grandparents are all from four different countries so what country should I play for =p.

Belgium! Nice

Depends on how brown you are. If you're white you can play for any team. That's the rules.
