While round a friends house on Saturday, after watching the FA Cup final and waiting for the boxing on Dave, me and my friend watched a bit of the MLS game between New York Red Bull and New York Citeh. It was weird, they were playing in Yankees baseball ground, so the pitch was tiny and due to how the MLS wages system works you had Pirlo, David Villa and Lampard (who didn't start) playing alongside what seemed (by how they played) Conference South players. I know MLS is better than that but it was a poor game. The star man of all people was Bradley Wright-Phillips who started ahead of his brother (the better one) Shaun Wright-Phillips for Red Bull...

Was weird.

Hmm, pie.

Any game that ends 7-0 is a poor game, regardless of the league. And Lampard has been awful. Getting paid $6m/year and isn't good enough to start.

I'm not sure about why you think Shaun Wright-Phillips is a better player than Bradley, but Bradley has outperformed him forever since they've both been in MLS.

Any other USMNT fan thoughts on the 3 friendlies before Copa? Seems kinda excessive, but I guess it's important for people to try and gel considering the idiotic roster decisions made by Klinnsman.

I don't expect much from the Copa or the friendlies. Klinsmann has lost me, but be happy to be shown wrong about him.

You dont't have an easy group, Colombia is very strong, Paraguay is relatively hard and Costa Rica has shown a lot lately. I'd say it's the hardest group even if it doesn't have the strongest teams.

I think it will be

Group A: Colombia and USA

Group B: Brazil and Ecuador

Group C: Uruguay and Mexico

Group D: Argentina and Chile

Don't get me wrong, there were some bad plays from both sides but it's just a little odd is all. Mainly because I never thought I'd see Bradley Wright-Phillips play against Pirlo.... ever. Plus I know what BWR is capable of as a saints fan. He didn't exactly bring good press during a bad time for us.

I don't expect to get out of the group.  Klinsmann's decisions have us playing the worst I've seen since Sampson and 98.  We lack confidence and cohesive style of play trying to be "clever" moving players around.  I think qualifying for the next World Cup will be a challenge, something I have not thought for a long time.

That's what I'm predicting as well. I think the USA can make out of the group, but I'm not counting on anything else after that.

I'm not nearly as pessimistic as Augen, but Jurgen has certainly disappointed me.

So... what is this Xhaka like then? Better than Shaqiri (Shaqiri)?

They're completely different players though. Xhaka is a defensive/holding mid. Not an attacking player like Shaqiri.

He should be a great signing for Arsenal though, but they still need a striker.
