Forums - Gaming - Was the ps3 the most inspiring console ever created?

Even when it wasn't doing so good Sony fans never stop B_E_L_I_E_V_I_N_G and now the opposing fans, that used to mock it, are using it a source of hope for their console of choice. How did Sony do it?

Bet reminder: I bet with Tboned51 that Splatoon won't reach the 1 million shipped mark by the end of 2015. I win if he loses and I lose if I lost.

I like the PS3 slim better.  Not the super slim, but the original slim.  Only thing not going for the slim is PS2 games(and Linux if you're one of the three people who bothered with it.)  I purchased a slim and keep my phat to play PS2 games only now.  Not as good as PC upscaling, but plays 99.9% of games without problems and upscaled 1080p which looks noticeably better.

With what Sony vision was yes, just to ambitious.

Definitely. I want to be a PS3 when I grow up.

If you mock a console based on sales that is pretty dumb. I liked the PS3 ever since it came out. The 360 blew it away in sales in the beginning but by the end of the gen it is pretty tough to argue against Sony exclusives. I have an X540 and a PS4. Just because PS4 is selling more doesn't mean the X540 is a bad system. I like the PS4 more, but Dead Rising 3, Killer Instinct, and Titanfall are GREAT games. No one buys the Vita, but Gravity Rush, Tearaway, Ys, Killzone: Merc are GREAT games.  Most inspiring system ever = SNES.  Almost every controller that has been made since that console is based on a similar design.

I think it's the PS2.

Best console ever created that's for sure.

PS3 is a fine console, but in my opinion it pales in comparison to its two predecessors. Moreover, and this is something I've mentioned before, most of the great non-Nintendo games of the seventh gen were multiplats, and multiplats, in general, performed and played better on X360 or PC.

Sony's level of support for the system is admirable. And PS+ is a great, inexpensive rental service with a huge catalog of games. But, overall, I think PS3 was a bit of a missed opportunity, especially following what is, arguably, the best console ever made.
