Far more split userbase last gen than this gen. Even so you're not going to see that kind of regression this generation. WiiU isn't going anywhere near 4m+ in Japan, expecting similar results for PS4 suggests you expect the home console to be down more than 60%.

It's just so incredibly hilarious to think PS4 is going to simmer all this gen with those huge, far more frequent franchises coming out.

a) Japan is irrelevant.
b) PS4 has loads of exclusives games coming (almost quadruple the amount of exclusive Wii U games) that will make the system "explode" in sales.
c) The idea of the Wii U winning Japan is a "hollow victory".

You act like this one is a joke. You realise by exclusives people mean third party franchises they sell the majority of PS right? I mean they won't get WiiU versions, and XB1 versions don't exactly set the charts alight there. Not only do you have Sony first party but basically the rest of the worlds non MS/Nintendo studios.

They'll have a far more positive impact than WiiU exclusives have had. Wait for Resident Evil, Final Fantasty, Metal Gear Solid ect.

This, plus the WiiU has been out a whole year longer and the PS4 would pass it this year if it had not been. Japan is irrelevant, but the games mentioned will put the PS4 above the WiiU easily as those games are actually popular compared to Nintendo as a whole.


That was said about Killzone & Infamous.  People like to say anything and pat each other on the back.  They not to long ago just released a Metal Gear.  I reading a lot of wishful thinking.

That's not what an exclusive game is. But!... if you want to take them into account it's perfectly fine with me.

It's not a joke, it's entirely possible that the PS4 has quadruple the amount of exclusive games the Wii U has, specially if we take what you said as true.

Seeing PS3 outsell both PS4 and Wii U some weeks suggests there's life in the PS4 when the game library starts to suit Japanese tastes. But I do think the baseline of PS4 sales once it gets a decent library of games isn't going to be terribly impressive, even if it does routinely outsell Wii U each week. So it will be a long slow road to overtake Wii U.
