I don't forsee the PS4 taking the lead any time (in Japan) soon after MK8 launches, which will be followed by Zelda : Hyrule Warriors, Bayonetta, X and SSBU. PS4 does not have compelling enough software targeted towards the Japanese market at the level Nintendo has for this year.

Maybe it can be the saviour of the japanese console market, but that's a hard task, almost a miracle indeed.


Anything is possible but just like the Wii U leading Japan for the rest of the gen, it's pure speculation and a lot of faith. If the current economic situation in Japan is anything to go by, home consoles as a whole have a grim future, in other words DOOOOOOOOOOOMED.

It will do respectable numbers. This gen just basically started. It won't pass the Wii U though in Japan.

How PlayStation 4 is not a flop in Japan?

When we compare Wii U and PlayStation 4 sales week by week then we can see that it did not keep up wh Wii Us pace so Wii U outpaced it and it went sub 10K one week before Wii U not to mention lack of appealing software for Japanese audience not to mention that Natural Doctrine for PlayStation 4 flopped like PlayStation 3 version and even Vita if it has one so mega flop and Yakuza Ishin also fared poorly...

Western games are not appealing to Japanese audience and is not a reason to japanese consumer to buy a PlayStation 4 also from games that are coming to PlayStation 4 are mostly western and ones that are japanese are either niche or ports. Wii U will dominate with its software in Japan, by the time PlayStation 4 gets some meaningful software there will be a 1.5-2.25 million gap maximum...

There is no chance that PlayStation 4 catches up Wii U this year or barely next year, to catch up this year it would need to sell 30K+ each week by end of the year and that Wii U sells zero...
