Well, kids talking about the game at school, and consumers buying the console are very different things. For one, most of those kids at schools, and younger audiences interested in such a game probably don't have the funds to buy it, and their parents likely aren't going to be buying them a console outside of the holiday season, or a birthday. I have two brothers who are very interested in it, and a friend who's also very eager to play it, but none of those three are able to buy a Wii U right now, and won't be for a while yet.
