Since the announcment of nintendo letting Smash bros coming for EVO again and even MLG, i started to thinking that the idea of nintendo about e-sports has changed.
They need to grab a new market, and i believe that they realized that alreadly. And the move from them to actually go out and say "we are doign this" is not something that they do usually, unless under pressure(like with the gay marriage in tomodachi life). Not only this, but you can see that the majority of theirs next game have some kind of competitive mode. MK8 will make tournaments pretty easy. They are hosting a torney of smash themselves on (the expensive) nokia theater during E3. Even NES remix 2 have a mundial leaderboards now.
Besides, the trademark of pokken figthers is rigth next to the pokken tournament one, what make me believe taht they will actually host tournament for it alreadly. They now have a twich channel too, that is know for tournament streams on it.
I fing odd too that last meeting iwata said that they have a "bussines research department" since march, around the same time all those annoucments started to pop around. We all know how e-sport have been growing, and it something that nitnendo could enter on without much effort.
So what i'm saying is we will see a lot of tournament from nitenndo every year from now on. Do you believe on this?
