Yeah, I don't see it either, but man, a PS4 cut timed for Gamescom or TGS (2014) would be pretty sweet.

But somehow you believe its impossible for the MS to lose market share to sony this gen? Well, you obviously don't know how the platform neutrals work. They just buy what the industry says is the best thing to buy or what everyone else is buying. And right now and for the forseeable future I think its safe to say that the bearer of that title is the PS4 unless there is a massive shift in mindshare. Those platform neutrals are not loyal to anything. They simply buy the next best thing on the market.
What's amusing about the Xbox One so far is that nobody can see (or refuse to see) how closely the Wii U and Xbox One have been, launches aligned. I personally believe that the Xbox One is overtracked on here, I can't see there being any more than 4.5m consoles in homes at the moment. Which is only around a million more than the Wii U this time last year.
Both consoles had successful launch periods then sales went down like a lead balloon after the launch period ended and the launch window period started.
The Xbox One is in serious trouble at the moment, Microsoft's silence on sales as opposed to shipments (with more than likely stuffed channels at that) speaks volumes. It's been an unmitigated flop in Europe so far and only been doing 'okay' in the US. It's only a matter of time until there are twice as many PS4s in homes worldwide...and once Xbox One SKUs start selling half that of PS4 SKUs third parties are going to take serious notice.

Same thing in Australia now with the price cut, though pre-price cut the XB1 Titanfall bundle was usually discounted to the same price. Don't know how sales are going in Aus, but if I was to guess based on what retailers were discounting and the number of people within each section of the game stores I go to, it does seem PS4 is still getting more interest.

Don't remember the name of the thread but a user showed that going from 22nm to 16nm won't reduce cost to produce so maybe we will take longer to see it happen.

Removing Kinect from the box furthers this view in many eyes. Now the XB1 is just a weaker PS4, so a small price difference isn't enough to make it truly stand out. Both of these things virtually requiring an online service to make decent use of them also reduces the numbers of people who will bother owning both.

Thats actually a really good point I hadn't thought about before, and I wonder if it played any part in Sony's decision to charge for online this gen. Last gen it was easy to own both the 360 and PS3 because you still only paid the one online fee (Xbox Live) which isn't ideal for Sony as it potentially halves the numebr of multiplat sales that Sony get licensing fee's from (as you have a choice of consoles to buy them on). By charging for online, you give the consumer more incentive to stick to one console or the other.
Of course, if the PS4 launch hadn't been so successful then that advantage might have been a disadvantage, as gamers might have decided to stick with XB1 instead. But for now, such a strategy might be a winner for Sony, and why an early lead in a new generation can have an amplifying effect as the generation goes on.
