If you live in the UK and you’re in the market for a PS4, you may want to wait a couple days, because the British retailer GameSeek posted a notice announcing that as a result of a popular vote the  PS4 will receive a “whopping price drop” this week on its online storefront.

And it has the potential to be indeed a quite sizable one, as the console will be put for sale for as low as £299.99. This is actually a co-buy scheme, which is a way to collaboratively purchase discounted items that has gained traction lately in Europe. If you’re interested in how it works,there’s a rather detailed FAQ here. Basically the more people purchase the item the lower it drops up to the target of £299.99.

Considering the demand for the PS4 it’s very likely that the price will drop all the way to the target, but it’s a caveat you have to keep in mind before making your purchase.

It’s worth mentioning that GameSeek already had a similar sale for the Xbox One, but according to the notice there will be ten times as many PS4 consoles available for sale this time around. apparently GameSeek expects a full house.

With the hardware decisions that Sony made it will probably be very easy to lower the price as soon as the console itself gets older, when they amp up production and improve on the processes. So a 299 pounds or 349 euros pricetag is something we'll probably see more often within a year.
