Forums - Nintendo - Pokemon Undertracked! Wait...3rd gen?

So at the recent investor's meeting, Iwata gave an interesting quote on the sales of Ruby/Sapphire. It's sold 16.22 million units worldwide, and 5.44 in Japan. We have it at 15.85 WW with 5.38 in Japan. And here I thought B/W actually stood a chance of outselling R/S. No, don't even think about saying it's "shipped, not sold" because this is the GBA we're talking about. At this point, it's two generations later, and everything is sold through. Maybe B/W is undertracked too? I know X/Y is undertracked, because it's sold over 11 mil physical for a while now, and we still don't have it there. No big news here, I just thought it was interesting that a pretty major game from two generations ago was undertracked, and an RPG no less, which rumor has it VGC normally overtracks.

Instead of seeking to convince others, we can be open to changing our own minds, and seek out information that contradicts our own steadfast point of view. Maybe it’ll turn out that those who disagree with you actually have a solid grasp of the facts. There’s a slight possibility that, after all, you’re the one who’s wrong.

The retailers just keep them as memories?

Two generations later, you still think that sold to retail is going to be hundreds of thousands of units higher than sold to consumer? You're saying there's almost 400k GBA games on store shelves, still waiting to be bought?

Someone had to pay for them, so in essence they were sold by Nintendo. Even if consumers didnt get their hands on them.

but that is not what vgc tracks

Hell maybe you guys are right but i find it pretty plausible that there are alot of units unsold when looking at the total sales

60k units not sold in japan by the factors i mentioned before and in some obscure gamestores ( its around 1% of the japanese total )

370k units is +-2,5% for the rest of the world even if i'm wrong its incredibly close

I guess so. For statistics, the values are pretty close and acceptable regardless.

Its true that this site tries to show sold to customers and not shipped. But when a release is this old and there are official numbers, i find those more accurate.
