what about $149.99-$199.99 Wii's?

1.) 249$ price is ALREADY MASS MARKET price.
In that case 149-199$ won`t make much EFFECT on sales -> Look at GAME CUBE sales at 149$.

2.) Damn, you need to study more, MUCH more.

1.) $250 is accepted as mass market price because of Nintendo. :)

2.) or you need to step into reality..... and goddamn playa... step out your house and interact with human's for once in your life... not from behind a computer... might I add is where you shine :)

You're telling someone to interact with people and get out of the house, yet you post far more than him.... Honestly? You should take some of your own advice and quit posting obvious flamebait for once, I can't tell if you're trying to get attention by purposely posting childish replies or if you actually believe every one of your annoying troll posts are necessary.

if the ps3 was 250 since launch i guarantee you it would have very similar if not better sales than the wii.

If the ps3 was $250 since launch i guarantee you it would have very similar hardware to the Wii.

That's the problem of saying 'if this, if that'; Nintendo and Sony chose different tradeoffs and so far it looks like Nintendo's chose the best one.

Also, to all those saying that the Wii>PS3 sales are completely explained by the $250-$500 difference (more like $250-$400/$500) the high price of the PS3 explains it lower sales but it doesn't explain the higher sales of the Wii otherwise the 360's sales would be similar (arcade at 280). And if you say 'yeah but people know the arcade is not that good' you are conceding the point as it is an admission that price is not everything, the perceived quality of the console being another reason.

The low price of the Wii is not the cause of its high sales, the popularity of the Wii Remote and Wii Sports is the cause. The Wii's price doesn't create the sales, it just doesn't disable them like it does the PS3 (although of course less at $400 than the $600 at launch).

Also, to Avinash who says the PS3 will sell less than the PSP, look at this graph:

http://vgchartz.com/hwlaunch.php?cons1=PS2&reg1=All&cons2=PS3&reg2=All&cons3=PSP&reg3=All&weeks=156

One could say that as both the PS3 and PS3 are home consoles that their sales should have a greater correlation and thus the Ps3 should sell more like the PS2 than the PSP.

Of course the PS3's competition is so much stronger than the PS2's competition ever was that it is unlikely that it will sell nearly as much as PS2, so it should fall in between PSP sales and PS2 sales, which is a good, but not great, result.

From that graph we can say that we will likely know whether the PS3 follows a course closer to the PS2 or to the PSP after next christmas.

One thing that could hinder the PS3 is that it already reached sub-20k levels this year, a month before when it did last year and despite the lower price, bigger number of games and new colors.

It will be interesting to see wether it dips as low as 10k and whether it does so before mid-may (when it did last year).
