Didn't the Vita sell 10k in NPD? How are sales on the rise?

The US isn't the World. It's up massively YoU in Japan and a few games have actually charted in the UK this year despite being more niche releases. No idea on sales though. But US is clearly by far Vita's weakest market.

Hence not much in the way of big budget US releases while Europe has delivered Killzone Tearaway and had a major 3rd Party release in the form of Football Manager in the past 12 months.

What they really need to do is use Japanese momentum to get a few more Western friendly big name games out there. (MGS etc would fit there)

RIP Dad 25/11/51 - 13/12/13. You will be missed but never forgotten.

“First thing is, indie games are getting better and better all the time,” Sahid can defend indie games all he wants.  The bottom line is they don't seem to be affecting sales or the pereception of the console. People percieve them as small lowbudget games even when that isn't the case.

“The second thing is there are more top flight titles coming. Football Manager recently came out which is absolutely amazing. It’s the first title as far as I’m aware that allows you to cross save your PC game and continue where you left off on Vita which is something people have dreamt off for a long time with Football Manager." If FM is what he thinks of as a Top Fight title I can tell you right now there is no hope for the kinds of titles people want and expect to purchase a console for.

“Frankly, we haven’t sold as many Vitas as we would have liked to have sold and the economic reality is that it costs a lot of money to make a triple-A game, and so they’re going to be few and far between until the numbers go up,” said Shahid. His own admission that until sales improve we wont be getting the kinds of games we want. Since the kinds of games he is getting for the system don't seem to be raising sales I can't see what would cause the sales to go up.

“The good news is the numbers are going up. There’s a lot of love for the machine. It is selling. It is doing pretty well I would say, all things considered because the signs last year weren’t good and for us but numbers going up this year is really good news. With people like SEGA, people like Namco coming to the platform with some of their top flight games that’s a healthy sign as well, and I expect that to continue.” Umm Vita is down everywhere except Japan so I'm not sure where he's getting his info.  Has me wondering if it's not just blind optimism or PR speak.

I can appreciate what Sahid is trying to do.  He simply has no influence on what devs and publishers are using as a metric for should they make Vita games(hardware sales). That wont change or it will even slow down. Between this and even Sony giving us test titles I can't help but think that Vita's future software output looks decidedly worse than it's past output(clearly in terms of getting games that will appeal to me or the market at large).

Ah Shahid really needs to stop overhyping stuff, I love the enthusiasm but sometimes he is overboard with it.

Maybe you need to stop being overhyped by every word he says.

This isnt Shu saying more games, this is Shahid Ahmad a guy with little power at Sony. He is mearly doing his best to get other companies to help Vita succeed

That's right blame the victim not the suspect! DX
