~@% WARNING! This thread is mostly intended for people who've played BL1 & BL2 so therefore SPOILERS! %@~
Now, then. With the announcement of Borderlands Pre-Sequel, I've started playing a new character in the original Borderlands game. That, combined with my recent playing of Borderlands 2 due to the Loot Hunter event, has me thinking about the Borderlands universe, where the story is heading, and what I'd like to see from Borderlands 3.
The ending of BL2 seemed to open up the a vast number of new worlds which supposedly contain Vaults like the ones on Pandora. Are they more prisons, more bio-weapons, or perhaps something else?
With that in mind, here are some of my thoughts on the potential of Borderlands 3:
-- Who will be the protagonists of BL3? An entirely new team? That seems to be the trend. If I understand correctly, there are six Sirens in the universe at any given time. We know of two living, Maya and Lilith, and two that have died, Angel and Steele (supposedly). That means two Sirens to play with, hopefully, and I'm definitely a Siren fan. The Siren is always my first choice of character to play.
What I'm really hoping for is a new team, with the BL2 team providing back-up in much the same way the BL1 team provided back-up in Borderlands 2. That really allowed Gearbox to flesh out the BL1 team, which is what I want for the BL2 team. Zero and Maya, especially, have some pretty interesting origins.
-- The Setting. Will we really leave Pandora? It feels strange to think of going to another planet, to be honest. On the other hand, Promethea has already been set up as being WORSE than Pandora. That would be my guess as to the next destination, as it's a known location for Eridian technology.
I guess that could mean no more hold-over characters like Scooter or Dr. Zed, though you never know. However, I'm tired of Skags.
-- The Enemy. We've fought Atlas Corp in the first game, then Hyperion in the second game. Will the trend of battling these mega-corporations continue? If so, will it be a new corporation or will it bounce back to Atlas or Hyperion? I believe Atlas is in control of Promethea, or part of it. We still have groups like Dahl, Maliwan, and Vladof out there, though Torgue is mostly accounted for. Axton was a former Dahl soldier.
There is also the possibility of more Eridian Guardians and perhaps even other alien cultures.
-- Who will die? Character death is a big part of Borderlands. I just hope it's not Maya.
I cannot wait for the next games. Pre-Sequel is set between BL1 and BL2, which should give us a lot more information about Hyperion and Handsome Jack (how did he get branded?). The TellTale game is supposed to be AFTER BL2, which is awesome.
I also want Slag to go away, Marcus to stay in the game, and more information about Sirens.
What do you guys think? Any hopes or dreams for Borderlands 3? Characters you want to return? Characters you want to die? Your choice of setting? Even MORE Claptrap?
