But how do you know that those three characters would have been in the game at all if DLC didn't exist? It's possible that they wouldn't have even been made, and if that was the case, would you rather not get those three characters at all or have to pay a bit extra to get them? (Although $10 is too steep for just 3 characters, I certainly wouldn't buy that DLC unless it was at a discount)

But if its day 1 wats the excuse of not being in the original game??? Also i agree 3 characters for $10 O.o  I just did an example from PSASBR (2 characters and a stage $10), with no unlockables in the main game -_-

I think you misunderstood..

What would be better,  to have a game with 20 characters which have 3 characters as dlc day one because devs know they can make a profit with it...or have the game with 20 characters with no dlc at all because the devs dit not made the effort to make the 3 characters dlc because they knew it would not give them profit....

I'm against DLC altogether because who knows how many developers hold back content to release at a future time. Regardless what you purchase for DLC, it's almost way overpriced for the amount of content that's offered There's expansion packs for certain games, like Bethesda games, or the Rockstar DLC, and those are worth it, but the majority of content offered is an overpriced cash grab.

I said the majority of games.  Not all games are like that.

It goes without saying that the roster was not strong enough. There should have been more characters, even if they were less known ones and make some of them unlockable, but alas.

The problem with allstars roster was it looked more of a Market roster than an actually all star roster! im surprised Lightning wasnt in :p

Except here its $70, $10 more than most 3DS games. Add the season pass on top and its more expensive than any Wii U game, therefore complete BS and not worthy of a purchase. Also being Nintendo the game will never drop in price which means it will never be at a price worth purchasing it at.

Well I can't argue that in your region you're getting raped or not. But in NA and likely other regions its comes at a total of $5 more than an average 3DS game with 2x the normal content i f you buy the game plus the season pass. In your case, seems like the price will likely come down and/or it is arguable now worth it with or without the DLC, unless you really like MG. But that is completely indifferent to the DLC option.

Here's the deal. Back in the day, when consoles weren't connected to the internet, companies COULDN'T chop up a game and sell it for more than whatever retail was. Now that they can, they are. It's not like they are getting more greedy. It's just that they have new ways to BE greedy and they're taking advantage of it.

If people don't like it, find a new hobby or play indie only. That's my opinion.

Also, back in the day the games were much, MUCH shorter. You could literally beat some of them in less than an hour. Without any cheats or anything. There was no way to save your progress or similar check points. The difficulty made games seems longer than they were. Do you think that in terms of content we don't get more now even without the dlc? From my experience, it sure seems to be the case.

I dont think anyone would disagree with you. I will say however, that your PSASBR example is unfair. 20 characters cant be concluded to be unfair. Why do you care about unlocking characters when you can basically play it right away with several people each getting to play as their favourite char right off the bat. Furthermore the dlc characters you mentioned where free for its first 2 weeks up on the store. You could even download them even if you didnt have the main game yet (like i did). Even if they werent you wouldnt be complaining about day 1 dlc but just dlc in general. In that case PSASBR is no different than 99 percent of games.

I think it's perfectly fine, they aren't hurting anybody. If you want to enjoy the game you will have to pay, that's how the world works!
