I just bought Fight night 3 for the PS3. I have a PS3 with the HDMI cable and a 1080i TV. The box says that the game supports 720p and 480i <i believe.  So when i try to play it i cant play it on 720p so it looks like absolute S***. Apparantly i can only play it on 480i. Is that the case or am i missing something? When i play it it looks like the graphics r worse than a PS2...  the same goes for SvsR 08. Does any one have a suggestion on how to make the graphics better or is there no way?

It depends on the TV. Older TVs don't handle upscaling from 720p to 1080i. Most newer TVs can do both 720p and 1080i. Also i think this was a problem with early PS3 games. You could get a receiver that would upscale the signal from 720p to 1080i

Welcome to the lack of a hardware scaler in the PS3. If you have a 1080i-only TV, you're f***ed. Sony left it to the developers to include 1080i resolutions on the disc so you are entirely at the mercy of the developer's budget to include 1080i or not.

I ran into this problem before I bought a new HDTV. It's very frustrating and I feel your pain.

He's right. Most newer games don't have this problem to my knowledge.

there are plenty, i have a pioneer elite receiver that does it, the only problem is you have to pay a pretty penny...i was just looking online to see if there was a cheap option but i can not find one under 800! sorry!

it converts 720p to 1080i? it might be worth it for me then. Shoot i dint even know it was possible! can u put up a link plz?

The cool thing about these receivers is that you plug it all into the receiver (they have 2-4 hdmi) and one hdmi to the tv
