the problem is there is no software to help it coming out. in May you have Watch Dogs, but its heavily markets on PS4 and has PS4 bundles. if they cut the price by 100$ this month, it will boost sales, but then momentum will slow down considerably due to lacking software. PS4 on the other hand has MLB the show coming in the usa, and then watch dogs, which will help PS4 more than XB1 and then TLoU.
The price cut will be more effective when there are software to sell the XB1. so around end of august seems more likely, most likely the rumored forza horizon 2 coming in september, then with Quantum Break and Sunset Overdrive coming later. (along with third parties, of course)

Just because PS4 is outselling it doesn`t mean XB1 isn`t doing really well, because it is. Wish Wii U could pull half those numbers. |
When you have "The Game of The Generation" bundled with the console, that number is well under what was expected.

You have to understand the reason people think the xbone is doomed is cause america is what traditonally was the equalizer vs sony's total global sales although that too was only true in the beganning of the last console war, and if sony wins or even competes to a draw this gen in the us that means over time a ww slaughter cause of sony's massive lead in europe/japan.

I think people expected too much, then. It came out on a more expensive console and it also has a version on 360.
If people expected the moon with that game, they really expected too much. Not to mention it doesn`t even have a true single player mode.

Damn! All that hard work from MS and they still couldn't take the month. They threw everthing but the kitchen sink at the competition and still lost in the US. That's big. Between paying millions to keep Titanfall exclusive, price drops, free Titanfall game with console, controlled leaks to try and spread positive news and Phil Spencer twitter articles every day trying to win over customers, this has to be a tough loss for MS right now. To think, all Sony had to do was put the PS4 on the shelf to win the month.
Congrats to PS4! :)

It was bundled at $450 most of March. with a free year of Live. That's a great value and it still underperformed

I think that right from the start it was obvious that PS4 was going to put one heck of a fight in the US. And given the hype before it was only natural for it to start above the XB1.
People are also very quick to forget what history has taught us. In 2007/8 people already claimed PS3 to be dead last and Wii to overcome everyone with ease. Look how things turned out.
We are 6 months into this cycle and people are already calling XB1 doomed. Even in the States, it`s too early to see how things will pan out.
With XB1 doing so well at 500$, it`s got a great future ahead of it.
And let`s not forget, MS is in a better condition to decrease the price gap and keep it competitive.

Give the hype machine behind Infamous some credit too. Sony and SP did a really great job promoting it.
If they manage the same with The Order then December will be a fun month too.
If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

Wasn`t aware of that.
Still, i wouldn`t call 311K underperforming. I call it very, very good.
