Forums - Movies & TV - The Amazing Spider-Man 2!! Review [No spoilers]

Are you going to see the movie in theaters?

YES, in IMAX 3D 5 31.25%

YES, 3D 0 0%

YES, 2D 3 18.75%

NO, will wait for DVD/BD 5 31.25%

NO, I hate spidey 3 18.75%

Total:16

And the movie was indeed, as referred too in the title of the movie, amazing.

The story, for a superhero movie, was well written, logical and just very good. A bigger universe is definitely created and I can not wait for the future. The movie was 150min but it didn't feel long at all. Because of good pacing and very good acting. The relationships that all the characters have in one way or another on screen was magnificent. (Not only Peter and Gwen but also props to Dane Dehaan as Goblin and Jamie Fox as Electro!! .... Each scene with them was a wow moment) If I only could see part 3 now.

The action was a huge step up. This is how I want my comic book heroes to see on the silver screen. Nothing more to say about this part. Well crafted out, epic-moments and emotional moments.

I saw it in 3D (only way for this avant-premiere) and the 3D was thanks to the 3D EPIC RED cameras full of depth. It felt natural and after a while you'll forget you have glasses on. It was very immersive and really added a new dimension! Occasionally they used also pop-out 3D.

Summary:

Big step forward for this Spidey universe. In my opinion best adaption of the comic-book hero.

8/10

PS: if possible go for the IMAX 3D experience. It'll be worth it.

But but but .... IGN said it was crap. :/

I'm going to go see it this weekend. I can't wait to see it for myself. I've heard good things - and not so good things - so all the more reason to check it out. I'm sure I'll like it either way since I'm a Spidey buff. xD

Playstation = The Beast from the East

Sony + Nintendo = WIN! PS3 + PSV + PS4 + Wii U + 3DS

Everyone who enjoyed the first one in this series should normally be blown away by this movie. Currently an 83 rating on Rotten tomatoes with a 6.2 average score. Still there are only 23 reviews up and I'm expecting the score to get around 6.5 with a 85 RT rating.

For frame of reference I love Spider man, but I have never really liked his movies.

Spider-Man: 3/10
Spider-Man 2: 3/10
Spider-Man 3: 1/10
Amazing Spider-Man: 6/10

Would this one finally be a good Spider-Man movie? I saw pieces there in ASM with far superior casting, but it stumbled in story.

You give Spiderman 1 and 2 a 3 but the first Amazing Spiderman a 6?

Get out.

It's the best comic adaption (so the witty/sarcastical Peter Parker/Spider-Man). It's an improvement over part 1 because Marc Webb and the others got more freedom since they didn't need to handle an origin story. To be honest I cannot compare these new series with the old ones. The differences are now too big. Even if I prefer the Amazing series I still would give more credit for Spider-Man 1 and 2. Didn't liked 3 for several reasons (none have to with the villains actually).

The villains here are terrific (positive). Not a lot of Rhino because he is for the sequel and the Sinister Six movie. Electro and Goblin  were just amazing. Not only their portrayal but also the acting performance is top-level.

Much of that came down to casting, which was just awful in the older Spider-Man films.  ASM at least felt a bit like a Spider-Man film, even though it stumbled with the idiocy that permeated the older ones.  While ASM left me feeling "meh" it had the potential to be something good.  I never saw even a hint of anything redeeming in the older Spider-Man films, the tone and feel just felt off.  I loved Spider-Man and read hundreds of his comics growing up, and yet in the movies I hated him and wanted him to fail. That is impressive in a way, it takes effort to make something so bad that I never wanted another Spider-Man film byt he time the trilogy ended.  To me they were on par with the Star Wars prequels in utter disappointment and ineptitude.

I might catch it later on then given your recomendation. Still in no rush unlike Godzilla and Guardians of the Galaxy which I am pumped for.
