Forums - Gaming Discussion - PS4 has a good year ahead (vs xbox one)

Chris Hu just stop, the way you're acting i embarrassing, you were wrong, get over it, facts prove baseball's popularity, who cares why it's popular? It doesn't matter because the fact remains is that it's more popular and that's that. People from Mexico, Venezuela, and Japan all watch the MLB as well as Americans, it's popular. I myself am a HUGE baseball fan and I play 2K, Madden, but have yet to buy a baseball game? Sales of a video game doesn't translate to a popularity of a sport.

Point is Baseball is a much slower game than 2K, Madden, and NHL and it's less fun to play Baseball MP, which sells all sports games, the MP, overall tho it's enjoyable just not multiplayer friendly. Point is, Baseball is popular, The show sells around 500K an installment every year, out of those 500K, the hundreds of thousands who bought the MLB series will purchase the show cause they have no other option. It WILL move SOME consoles, not saying it'll push millions but it not having any competitor only helps it. D

You need to get over it and face the fact that baseball really isn't as popular as you think it is.  The fact remains its a sport on the decline.

OP forgot Drive Club... and related to that, PS+ will be getting AAA games by the end of the year, as if free indies wasnt already an advantage over XBL.

The biggest boon this year is when the floodgates open on the cross-platform titles. The vast majority of them will look better on the PS4, and we live in a social-media instant-access world. Month after month we'll have people constantly confronted with the fact that the PS4 just plays those games better.

I'd even go so far as to say that the cross-platform games will help PS4 more than their exclusives like MLB The Show, because people that read reviews and see the screenshots will be able to really see what they're investing in.

Remember, most people have NOT bought a next-gen console yet, but when you see that one system dominantly offers better multi-platform performance, I can see the gap widening even more than it is right now.

The PS2 and Wii prove the majority of consumers don't give a crap about graphics when buying a console. Besides the minor gap between PS4 and XBO is nothing compared to the ridiculous advantage the OG Xbox had over PS2. The naked eye can't even tell a difference between PS4 and XBO multiplats and you have to break down every little pixel and post selected screenshots to tell a difference and that is assuming every person has a 1080p TV which not everyone does.

Lol. It's more than a minor gap, and the other comparisons don't hold water.

Wii sold on casuals and the trendy 'Cabbage Patch Doll' kind of temporary craze for the most part. Never before or since have you seen so many consoles that nobody ever bought a single game for. If anything, mentioning Wii shows how it failed to get a decent attach rate because the graphics were too sub-par to do justice to ports of popular series of that timeframe.

OG Xbox didn't do all that well because of timing and library. It took too long to get the titles flowing, but the fact that it had any success at all was largely due to the technical merits it offered.

And finally, you can tell an immediate difference with a good TV between the PS4 and XB1 on most multiplats. BF4 and COD (both massively popular series) you can tell at a glance at a gamer's typical 50-60" 1080p set. Yes, the naked eye can easily tell 720 vs 1080, unless you have terrible vision and/or a terrible TV (those with those awful 1366x768 '720p' TVs for example). To deny this basically begs the question of why those people would even buy a next-gen console to begin with? After all, Titanfall 360 runs closer to the XB1 in terms of resolution than COD Ghosts does between PS4 and XB1 :P

Basketball is not even in the top 3 in terms of popularity

Your own thread on the MLB even proves how popular baseball really is.  Its up for almost two weeks and got ZERO replies.  Meanwhile the Ultimate Warrior of a fake sport dies and his thread got 64 replies in less then 3 days.

You are using VGchartz as a way to determine a sports popularity?

I have offiially seen it all folks.

Well it proofed a point its totally irelevant on VGchartz and in the real world its not as popular as most people think it is and the fact remains that it is a sport on the decline.

If you want to play a baseball game there is only one place to get it. On a Sony console. The last version of this game sold 610k copies for PS3. Now these 610k people have to choose whether or not to buy the game on PS3 or upgrade to PS4 to play it. That's how it sells systems. It's the first MLB: The Show game on PS4. This one will sell consoles but future The Show games probably won't.

now see the big button that says "New Topic" on the right? Press it!! and a magical option will appear where you can make a topic about what ever you want and discuss it!! so go ahead and make a topic about baseball there and use the magical powers of the green button. because really, all you are doing is derailing a thread that has little to do with the popularity of baseball.

LOL I'm not derailing this thread it was derailed from the start when the guy that started it included MLB the Show as a system seller.
