how many consoles do you guys say would need to be moved for a game to be considered a system seller?

Over a million for sure and MLB the show is not and will never be a system seller the best selling game in the franchise came out 15 years ago on the PS1 and even that one fell short of a million units.

and that is probably the crux of what you have been argueing about for the last half hour lol    everyone has a different idea of what a system seller is,   and no one is saying itll be a cod like seller, but its still gonna be more then a few thousand.

I highly doubt anyone will buy a PS4 just to play MLB the show its not a system seller no matter how you want to look at it and baseball as a whole is nowhere near as popular as most people think it is the only reason its somewhat popular is because the season is very long 162 games most stadiums hold over 40K people and it has no major competion from other sports during most of its season especially in late June and all of July and most of August.

I guarantee you they will. Where I live there are several people that only buy consoles to play sports games. I know several people who only play Madden, NCAA Football, and maybe CoD or GTA. That is about all there game library consists of. Anyone that wants to play a baseball game will definitely be willing to pick up a PS4 to play The Show. No one here is saying the PS4 is going to get a gigantic surge of sales from The Show, but there are people out there that will buy a console to only play sports games.

Thats Madden. MLB doesn't even sniff Madden sales or NBA 2K sales.

The biggest boon this year is when the floodgates open on the cross-platform titles. The vast majority of them will look better on the PS4, and we live in a social-media instant-access world. Month after month we'll have people constantly confronted with the fact that the PS4 just plays those games better.

I'd even go so far as to say that the cross-platform games will help PS4 more than their exclusives like MLB The Show, because people that read reviews and see the screenshots will be able to really see what they're investing in.

Remember, most people have NOT bought a next-gen console yet, but when you see that one system dominantly offers better multi-platform performance, I can see the gap widening even more than it is right now.

Well its you, so you doubting it says what exactly.

Its simple logic and does not get any simpler.  Anyone that wants to play a next gen MLb game HAS to play it on PS4

get it ?

That still doesn't make it a system seller baseball is nowhere near as popular as most people thing it is and overall its a sport in decline.  As far a sports games goes most people rather would play a NFL, soccer, basketball, NHL,  or wrestling game before they would even consider a baseball game.

The PS2 and Wii prove the majority of consumers don't give a crap about graphics when buying a console. Besides the minor gap between PS4 and XBO is nothing compared to the ridiculous advantage the OG Xbox had over PS2. The naked eye can't even tell a difference between PS4 and XBO multiplats and you have to break down every little pixel and post selected screenshots to tell a difference and that is assuming every person has a 1080p TV which not everyone does.

It doesn't have to...

MLB 13 sales on PS3: 0.61

Thats 610k for a baseball game. Sports fans are pretty loyal... They will usually buy the newest version of all the sports games. They are also usually not early adopters either. Why would I buy a PS4 early if all I am going to play are the sports games. I'm not going to say it will push millions of consoles, but there will be people buying the system for it.

No its not the NBA and College Football are more popular and College Football is only going to get more popular since divison 1 has a small playoff now.  As for the NBA not only is it more popular in the US its miles more popular all around the world.

Not even close??? and yes its the second most popular

Basketball is not even in the top 3 in terms of popularity

Your own thread on the MLB even proves how popular baseball really is.  Its up for almost two weeks and got ZERO replies.  Meanwhile the Ultimate Warrior of a fake sport dies and his thread got 64 replies in less then 3 days.

"MLB in April. Watchdogs in May. The last of us in Summer. Destiny in September. Order 1886 around Holiday 2014."

Oh boy.

First, none of those are "major pushes" except for The Order 1886. The Last of Us will barely push anything because most PS4 owners that would care probably owned a PS3 and already played the game there, and Watch_Dogs already pushed all the next gen systems it would have last holiday season during the launch period. MLB will push exactly nothing and Destiny will push what every multiplay pushes, which is nothing.

The PS4 will obviously outsell the XBO this year, but let's not be delusional about the reasons why be pretending that the year is riddled with killer apps and hardware pushing games.

You are really underestamating The Show. Remember it's the only baseball game on a next gen console. It will move consoles.

I guess you haven't looked at sales of the games in the franchise lately.  Even EA's NHL series is more popular.

Last 2 years for NHL/MLB sales (Not including PS3's numbers for NHL)

Don't forget batman probably 1080p on PS4 and 900p on Xbox One and i'm looking foward shadow of mordor, alien isolation and the evil within for my ps4 too :p

You are using VGchartz as a way to determine a sports popularity?

I have offiially seen it all folks.
