Even if any of this had the chance to make something start pumping for the PSVita, you'd have to first convince Sony that it's actually worth it. From what I've seen, the Sony of the West don't even think the PSV is even a thing.

Well yeah if Sony didn't care about making a profit it'd be really easy to save the Vita.
They need a way to turn its fortunes around that doesn't bleed money so huge price cuts, cheaper games with identical quality, and putting huge studios on it are all out of the question.
I am wondering in North America they are waiting to push it with the PS4 until the redesigned in released. That would make sense. I do feel the sales are SO bad right now because the newer version is pending. I decided to wait until to buy it (although I bought my nephew one for Xmas).. I know the screen is not as good. But a smaller device with USB charging just works better for me..
They could do a deal where if you buy a PS4 you get the Vita for $150.. So $50 bucks off. I have been surprised by the lack of advertising about the remote play feature.

Now, I know that the PSP Go was an utter flop, but I'm confident that Sony learned from that experience and can do it right this time around. The problem with the Go was that not only was it far more expensive than a normal PSP (even though it lacked a UMD drive), but also that there weren't a lot of digital games available for it. This generation, all physical games are also available in digital, and there are many indie games that are exclusively digital. If Sony made a digital-only Vita and retailed it for, say, $149 USD, they would generate more sales along with having the benefit of making more money per games sold by cutting out the middle-man for every game sold. |
For the PSP Go, that made sense to cut the price. They could remove the optical unit, that contains more expensive parts. Consider that the PSP was the only UMD device in the world and that drive was made in small quantities just for it, it was expensive. The card reading unit on Vita is way cheaper, it's almost free in large amounts. Removing it wouldn't change the price. The expensive part there (that could be changed, since the SoC and other specs are fixed) was the screen, replaced by cheaper LCD. The cards could be cheaper, they are'nt that different from other memory cards to justify the cost, it's just Sony being greedy.
The only thing could save Vita in the west is release Super Mario, Pokemon, GTA or Halo series on it...
Sony of America had roughly 5% interest in the Vita at launch, and they are probably at a point below zero right now. No matter if they can or not they won't. If they wanted the Vita to do well they should have done something long ago.
I don't see myself ever getting a Vita, or any other handheld. My phone is good enough for me. If I want some great games I'll play them at home.

I know that the card reader isn'y costly to make, but by selling the Vita for less while making it digital-only, Sony gets a higher profit margin on each game sold.
You're Gonna Carry That Weight.

Releasing more disgustingly bad shooters would do it. Vita gamers loooove really bad shooters:

Ergh... i gave up on commercially making it really sucessful (sony doesnt seem to be in the shape of making it happen). I just want Sony to bend Namco and SEGA into bringing the Tales of games and the Phantasy star games. With those my Vita would be completely worth having, even if nothing else released.
