SK Hynix: 128-GigaByte DDR4 Module

SK Hynix, one of the leading designers and manufacturers of RAM, has officially announced the completion of the project to build a 128-gigabyte DDR4 module for server systems.

As to compare to the pervious ran 64-GB, they have uses vertical connection between the silicon layers within a single chip (Through Silicon Via, TSV), the capacity of each chip is 32 gigabit (four layers of 8 Gbps), their number – 32 units. Memory manufactured on 20-nanometer process technology.

This new Ram operates on the effective frequency of 2133 MHz at super low voltage of 1.2 V, more modest than existing DDR3 (1.35-1.5 B). Deliveries of 64 GB and 128 GB DDR4 memory will be start from the first half of 2015, SK Hynix predicts that DDR4 standard relatively quickly replace DDR3: next year it will be widely circulated, and a year later becomes primary.

God damn!!! Cannot wait to upgrade my PC when DDR4 comes out (even though I doubt consumers would get something like this)

PC Specs: CPU: 7800X3D || GPU: Strix 4090 || RAM: 32GB DDR5 6000 || Main SSD: WD 2TB SN850

What exactly do you do that requires 256GByte of ram? (Not that the ram is compatible with any existing mainboard/cpu, anyways)..

The new COD will probably require that much RAM

Virtual Machines! It would really help since I am a student and I need to run 5-6 virtual machines of Windows Server 2012 and have domains and etc and my poor 8gb can't cut it anymore. And before some people say I don't need much ram, Try running active directory and sharepoint (and not to mention exchange and etc) and watch as the ram usage goes up!

But apart from school, not too many things I guess apart from the size of my e-penis needs to be bigger

NSFW this! I get a boner just from thinking about working on CADs with 128GB of RAM!

Welcome back ram drives, that would speed up HD video processing a lot.
Make a 64gb partition, run games from there, bye bye loading times.

Hum... There will be smaller modules, you know.
