Ever since the launch of the Xbox One, there has been a lot of controversy surrounding the console’s inability to reach 1080p natively on a lot of games at 60fps. However, we may see games being able to be pushed even further with the addition of DirectX 12 on the system, and Microsoft’s Phil Spencer has weighed in on the topic.

When asked on Twitter how beneficial DirectX 12 would be on the system, whether minor, moderate, or large, Spencer responded by saying:

When you think about start of gen to end of gen teams learn a lot. DX12 will help as well, think PDZ to Halo 4.

Considering how improved the graphics and everything overall were from launch games like Perfect Dark Zero to a later release like Halo 4, this is a really strong statement by Spencer. Now, we will just have to see if this pans out.

The "desperate" comments are getting old.

phil Spencer doesnt do that. He has shown  he tells the truth or doesnt comment at all.Breath of fresh air in the industry.

i would advise you to read his comments carefuly. he says XB1 graphics will improve with time and the features DX12 will help with that improvment. software improves with time. it happened with every console and it will happen with the Xbox One. 

The title needs to be changed slightly, it gives the impression that DX12 itself is going to magically boost the X1's visuals by an entire generation worth of improvements. What he actually said is that a PDZ to Halo 4 kind of change is what we can expect over the course of the generation, with that being helped along by DX12.

Unlike what the title gives the impression off, what he says is perfectly reasonable. I'd actually consider it a bit of a "No Shit Sherlock" statement :P

Misleading clickbait title.

Roughly as old as the number of threads popping up, proclaiming DX12 is the (next) saviour of the XBox One...
