Forums - Gaming - How Big WIll The Gap Be By The Time The XB1 Releases In As Many Countries As The PS4?

How Big Will The Gap Be?

3 - 4 million? 30 32.97%

5 - 6 million? 36 39.56%

7 - 8 million 9 9.89%

9 - 10 million 6 6.59%

Or More ... ? 10 10.99%

Total:91

I often hear people using the disparity in distribution as the main reason for the huge disparity in sales ... So, how big will that gap be by the time all both consoles reach the same number of markets?

i'd say 0.

must-have-list for platforms i don't own yet:

WiiU: Donkey Kong

XBone: Dead Rising 3, Ryse

3.7-3.8 million, and continually growing, because Japan makes a bigger impact than those remaining countries.

arent they releasing in the rest of the countries by september? hmm, ill be guessing around 3.7 million by then.

X1 releasing in more countries is gonna do very little for it. Aside from a couple thousand units the first week, weekly sales will increase by less than 10% overall.

well the gap will be ~3 at the end of march. with xbone not getting any more countries until september (an additional 5 months) i think an gap increase of ~0.5M a month is reasonable so maybe ~5.5M.

you are expecting PS4 to outsell XB1 by over 100k weekly (on avarage) ?

Copied my post from another thread since that "50 vs 13" nonsense isn't going to stop:

Again. it is not Sony or Microsoft that sell the consoles, it's shops. In Europe, shops like the Metro Group (MediaMarkt, Saturn, etc). Roughly 1000 shops all over mainland Europe. We have seen pictures in the web of XBox Ones in shops in Iceland, Sweden, Norway, Belgium, Switzerland, Croatia, and I am sure the Mediamarkts in other parts of Europe got their share of XBox Ones as well. Curiously, the last PS4s shipped to Switzerland early February, while X1s are readily available since mid-January.

So will you give up that silly "50 vs 13" argument. it is simply nonsense. Any "official launch" in most European countries will come and go largely unnoticed, since those countries already have the consoles in shops.

when you put it like that maybe i'm a bit high.  i just looked at the months charts and saw ps4 was doing ~600k better per month in jan/feb.

still,.. there isn't anything notable on either system in the near future that isn't multiplat.   basically just watch dogs.   xbone will be pretty low in the summer lull.  certainly below 100k on average.   i'm not sure how long this "ps4 sales increased just because it was in stock" thing will last but it sony promised more consistant stock in the summer so we'll finally see how much it can really sell.

100k weekly advantage might not be that high.

I made a big deal about this in another thread: just using the raw numbers from "more countries" makes it seem like the PS4 is availble for so many more people. But, for example, Costa Rica (a country the PS4 is in and XBone isn't) is smaller, in population than Massachusetts. But people are just saying "more countries" to downplay PS4's sales, as if a country like Costa Rica is on par with the US or UK.
