Forums - Sony - Canadian PS4 now 450$ ??

Does someone know where the PS4 is manufactured? It could explain the change in price. Before saying its because of the USD, we should check if its manufactured there... If not then it because of the CAD vs YEN, not USD vs CAD.

Mostly China, It was previously manufactured by Foxconn but since some controversy I think they stopped business with Sony.

No excuse here. This is a stupid decision by Sony. Raising the price of a console is unheard of.

The poor company is struggling to survive. They need to do everything they can to make money. Besides, selling the PS4 at the old price might have been losing them money.

That won't help at all since it is a higher currency than everywhere else. If anything, it hurts Sony.

What do you mean by "its a higher currency than everywhere else"? Do you mean its a higher price?

the dollar drops, they change the price, thats how business works.. ESPECIALLY since alot are forcasting it to drop even lower. They are not in the business of loosing money

MS now gets to be in an interesting spot. They can afford to eat the loss of not changing the price to try and gain market share. If it drops more MS may follow suit but right now it puts them in a stronger position in canada.

I got my PS4 for 360 equiv, Right now its set at about 405 equiv. Thats pretty fair. Our dollar is interesting, the Bank is trying to lower it and keep it low to help manufacturing jobs and the like.

(*sarcasm*) What a huge surprise. Sony raises PS4's price and nobody seems to give a damn. In fact, some people even seem to be defending their decision. Meanwhile, if Microsoft raised the price of Xbox One by even a single dollar, all hell would be breaking loose on this forum.

Canada is a small market. Almost a tenth of the size of the US market. Also their decision was perfectly reasonable since $1 Canadian dollar = $0.9 US dollars.

Thank you! lol finally someone else who thinks so. These double standards are ridiculous

I remember when MS raised the UK 360 price a few years ago.....everybody lost their shit.

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

Yet MS keep theirs the same. Nobody gives props to MS and few critique Sony. Huh.

This isn't news here in Canada, products go up and down in prices depending on the value of the dollar all the time, I wouldn't be surprised if the wii U and X1 end up being more expensive in a near future, but if you want to use this particular situation as an ammunition for the console war do as you please.

Bet reminder: I bet with Tboned51 that Splatoon won't reach the 1 million shipped mark by the end of 2015. I win if he loses and I lose if I lost.

Im curious, how many others are actually canadian and how do you feel, and your friends feel about this?

When i heard about it i instantly thought "oh great thats our dollar again for you" and all my friends thought the same, i dont know person who blames sony

Nintendo hasn't raised their prices either.
