You cherry picked the US and UK because in those particular countries, the Xbox 360 sold the best there and you're fantasizing the same in regards the Xbox One.  Different console generations, different fruits, NOT apples to apples.

I'm fantasizing...

Can you demonstrate the importance of jrpgs in the Playstation and Xbox home console markets over gen 7 (PS360)? I'm kind of getting bored.

Hey man it's all cool. But I will say that the plethora of rpgs later in the PlayStation 3's life cycle helped push its sales past the Xbox 360. And for the record I cannot stand Final Fantasy since X.

I never played any since X, so I guess that's close enough to agreeing. :P

I don't think it's really important what may have pushed the PS3 past the 360 if it's only 2% of the total sales, despite the timing. What matters is the 98% of sales.

Also, what jrpgs were so important, can you name a few titles?

Sorry for budding in,

If you guys are talking about 7th gen then I believe Japan is worth around 10% of PS3's total sales. And that's with huge decreases of Japan releases than the 6th gen PS2 era. As for what jrpgs were so important I'd start with FF-13 which moved quite a bit of PS3's.

Take out the UK market and we would still see regular releases of every title worldwide except for maybe football (soccer) games but with lower sales obviously of home consoles and software.

Take out the Japan market and we would be without soo much more than just sales, we'd lose a videogame culture as well as the PS and Nintendo family, FF, DQ, MH, Pokemon and many others.

Also isn't even Germany now a bigger gaming market than the UK?

Just because Xbox sold well in UK but sold bad in Japan does not make UK bigger than Japan. Xbox does not = the market.

Having said all that I still agree that America is the biggest market.

UK is second biggest market because it makes the most money (outside of the US) has nothing to do with Xbox winning.

Since when did hardware have to sell in certain countries for that country to have software output???

I never wrote that hardware had to sell in certain countries for that country to have software output, where did you read that???

What I was trying to demonstrate was that the US and UK tend to revolve around similar tastes in games, and hence the SW sales typically resemble each other. Therefore, the synergy between these two markets is greater than any other. That's above and beyond the fact that they are indeed, sales-wise, the most important markets when it comes to the PS vs XB home console brands.

Yeah I definitely agree with you, I just felt like I had something to say so I said it.

Xbox wins = US/UK greatest market

See, it wasn't hard to change: US and UK most important market for any console" to "US and UK most important market for Xbox".

when do the vgchartz numbers get released?

All of them as long as they push sales.

I think Titanfall sales will only be disappointing to those thinking that it was the 2nd coming of Jesus, and would cause a titanic shift in console sales.

It's highly probable that a sizable chunk of people that were really excited about Titanfall already had bought their XB1s. It's also highly probable that a lot of the more educated buyers would rather spend $200 on a new GPU for almost any half-decent PC to have a better quality experience. And it's also probable that a good chunk of the 360 crowd that clamors for that kind of title isn't ready to plunk down $500 on a system when they still have the option to buy it on their existing system.

I mean the market for $500 and even $400 consoles historically isn't all that large. And I'd wager that most of the people who can afford such a thing have already bought theirs. In past gens, the install base didn't truly start to fly up until the consoles were at the $299 and under level. So you will also have a sizable group of people who just can't justify, or just plain can't afford to buy these consoles even if they wanted them badly.

With the recent releases of Ghosts and BF4, I also wonder if there's some FPS fatigue as well for genre fans that aren't the ultra-dedicated 8hr a day types.

Considering this is the GOTG hype died on launch and extremely surprised at how quiet it has gone, time to hype whatever is next on the horizon?

The hype was beyond berzerk on the game. I do think it would have done better without so much overexposure, particularly it makes the XB1 look bad if people were expecting it to be a true next-gen experience. It looks just about like something you could play as-is on 360 in many respects (it will be fascinating to see how that version turns out).

Yes this could be a reason too. I mean ok US/UK players are big FPS fans but buying 10 FPS every years at some point you have to be a bit bored ! Especially since they are not very innovative for most of them.

I guess we will have to wait for the sales of the 1st real next gen COD and next Halo to confirm or infirm that.

Then i think the "friends factor" is also a very important point when it comes to FPS. Where and what my friends are going to play. You might be tempted to buy a X1/Titanfall bundle but if nobody or not many of your friends will do the same or can't afford it for now, it's likely that you are going to make the same choice just to stick with the majority of them. Because obviously if you have to pay 500$ for then have to play alone while all your friends will keep having fun on their side it sucks. The servers are not shared and the X1 and 360 players won't be able to play together on the same servers, which could have made a difference on this point i believe.
