We'll that depends on how you define native. The image isn't upscaled and lets be honest, that's what most people are talking about when they say a picture is native.

I'm not sure why they didn't maybe because they decided that a higher framerate was needed for MP but not so much so for SP.

We can argue semantics, but its simply not native 1080p.

HOWEVER, I think its an interesting technique. If the result is a picture that looks arguably better than native 720p, perhaps this technique should be used more often.

Guerrilla obviously didn't use this technique in the campaign because the result is a picture inferior to native 1080p.

It is a 1080p image, they're just constructing it from 3 different images in the framebuffer(I think it's in the frame buffer, if Joe would like to correct me here) to fill in the missing image.  Those 3 images are rendering different parts and are combined with prediction of what's going to be next  to create the final image.  There's not one pixel being stretched to the next which is the opposite of what's happening on the One, unless stated otherwise (Which I haven't read any dev say otherwise for 90% of One games).

I think it is rather sad for everyone that both of the new consoles are so underpowered when it comes to CPU/GPU capabilities and we are already seeing devs making compromises on both consoles in order to maintain a minimal framerate within the limitations of the hardware provided. This was always going to be an issue when they both decided to go with midrange GPU's with mid range CPU's. I am sure devs will learn to tweak and optimise the hardware a lot but in the end there is no getting past the fact that both are underwhelming when it comes to hardware specs.

they are both on the low end mate

the x1 and ps4

definately not mid range bro

the ps4 is closer to a AMD 7790 performance wise

I doubt it.

They've been one of the best studios at keeping their games at 720p on the PS3, while other studios were pushing sub-720p resolutions.

I am expecting more of the same from them this gen.

But still, you are calling it.

It is unlikely, but if they decide to push character and environment detail as far as they can, I may see it happening.

I don't have any knowledge what-so-ever when it comes to computing but I've heard that you get more raw power out of a dedicated console (PS4/One) than you do out of a PC that is just as powerful. If this is true then wouldn't the PS4 be better than AMD 7790 or did you already take that into consideration?

the 7790 is not mid range man it's definately low end. Also the 7870 is able to do BF4 at high 1080p with 2x MSAA while still keeping 60fps. So the ps4 is sure as hell not a 7870 that's for sure.

depends bro you can decide what parts you want in your build so how much you spend will decide how powerful your pc will be.
