Maplin UK Cuts Down Price of Xbox One, Now Matches PS4 Price in UK

by Ryan Meitzler (1 hour ago) 7

Xbox One and PS4 have been pretty competitive since both of their respective launches last November, but over in the UK it seems price cuts have taken place between one of the consoles.

In a new update to its retail listing, Maplin UK has currently made a price cut to the Xbox One at £349.99, currently setting Microsoft’s console at the same price that Sony’s PS4 has had since its UK launch on November 29th, 2013. Details show that the price cut was done by Maplin UK and was any sort of official price cut by Microsoft, following the company’s official price cut in the UK back in February to £399.99.

Currently, Xbox One sales reports have not been officially updated or released since January, while it was reported that the Xbox One had sold around 3 million units at the end of 2013.

I had no idea Maplin even stocked game consoles! They are mainly a store for electrical components or disco-lights that look like they aren't going to work properly.

A great deal if you want it. I think they've had this for about a week.

Hmm, pie.

Dat price drop, how much have it been already? 80-100 pounds?

I think it was £429 here at launch, although I am not entirely sure.

A £80 price drop in less than 4 months in Microsoft's 2nd biggest market ouch.

I wouldn't read too much into it, as I said before Maplin is not really known to stock consoles.

The same happened to Wii U. Price drops ba retailers everywhere. A clear indicator for great sales! :P

Xbox One sells for 449 € in some stores in germany right now. Which is 50 € less than launch price. The prices for Wii U... are just sad... I saw the Wind Waker HD Bundle for 199 € the other day. If you want a PS4 and don't want to wait, you'll have to pay about 550 € around here. Crazy stuff.

Maplin are like radio shack. A pretty good store for information and electronic components but pricing is normally not that great for most items.

I personally wouldn't buy a xbox one unless it was significantly cheaper than ps4.

i didnt know retailers had this much freedom when it came to pricing consoles.
