So, just had the thought when thinking about indie titles. They honestly don't satisfy my gaming needs all that much. I got a couple free for ps plus and played them for a bit then got bored.  The games aren't bad or anything, just doesn't seem to last too long for me. The last indie I really got into was the trine series or tomb raider guardian of light. My gaming preferences are pretty diverse though. Here are some examples. I am enjoying the Wolf Among Us though.

Action Adventure:

The Last of Us

Uncharted Series

Tomb Raider

Bioshock series

Arkham series

Far cry 3

Hotline Miami

Fps:

BF series

cod series

etc (tons lol)

RPG:

Skyrim

Fallout series

Dark/demon souls

Mass Effect series

Am I the only one that doesn't see this as a "diverse" lineup of games?

Also, how are the last of us, uncharted or tomb raider anything other than 3rd person shooters? Biosock is a First person shooter aswell.

Basically, games where you shoot stuff are shooters. It makes sense doesnt it? They dont need to be military themed to be considered shooters. They may have some RPG elements and if really heavy can be considered RPG (like Fallout) but they are still shooters. Theres nothing action/adventure about them.

I swear that has got to be the worst genre category, because in theory what is an adventure game? Every game can be considered an adventure. They really should scrap that and just keep the action games in there (aka the hack and slash (though its easier to classify as a game where you dont shoot constantly)  and the action rpgs).

Around the Network

Thanks, Rol. Always nice to hear of another great sidescroller, especially from the 16 bit era. And yeah, sucks about it not being on the WiiU VC. But I really can't complain too much...I still haven't bought Earthbound yet.

Sidescrollers are where indies perform the best, and as another poster said earlier, give me Nintendo games and indie games and I'm a happy gamer. I think there is going to be a great resurgence of quality metroidvanias and action jrpgs hitting nearly all platforms in the coming year, and hopefully there is still an audience for these games to reward their developers for their hardwork, imagination, and sacrifice.

Of course, I have a feeling people will comtinue to support the "variety" of shooters on the market instead.
