Forums - Gaming Discussion - My Prediction: in 2K16 a lot of people are going to sell their Xbox ONEs & PS4s to buy a Wii U.

Not sure why OP keeps bringing up Vita, vita and PS4 situations could not be more different. Might be the worst prediction I have ever seen,.

That's John Lucas.

For real? lol, do you have any proof? Both seem like they could be.

Multiple reasons why this won't happen.

1) 3DS vs Vita is completely different. WiiU is essentially Vita. A system with very limited to no support and its value to price ratio is very bad. Both need to be far less expensive to garner a decent level of consumer appeal and that will not happen as the companies don't want to lose more money.

2) In 2016 Nintendo will have a clear strategy of replacing Wii U. 2015 will hint at it and 2016 will finalize it.

Completely agree with this—especially the second point. I've seen people say Nintendo's next console will be out in 2016. I think there is a greater chance it gets officially announced. However, I really hope that I am wrong. I would love for the Wii U to sell well since the gaming industry is better when Nintendo is doing well.

are still you expecting this to happen

Dat gif! That's how you win the internetz.

OT: This thread topic is how to NOT win the internetz. It's just not going to happen and I am having a hard time deciding on how serious the OP really is.

Mines better.

That was amazing

NintendoNext will be out by then and Wii U will be 150 so no one will need to trade in to get one

No, their next home console will not be out in 2016.

Why not? If it releases holiday 2016 that would give Wii U a 4 year cycle which is just one year less than SNES/N64/GC plus its only selling 1/2 of N64 sales and 2/3 of GC sales in the same time frame so its possible they want to start fresh with a new console sooner rather than later.

Wii U will be discontinued by 2016

I find the thread funny.

I highly doubt that, possibly they will have a successor announced and set to release at the end of 2016 but not likely it will be discontinued. Nintendo still has a ton of 1st party games that still havent released or even announced yet plus another price cut or two so Wii U still has a few years left in it.

My prediction: Nintendo will announce the successor to the Wii U no later than 2016 at E3.

Reason: Nintendo can either retain their small niche market centered around 1st party IPs and continue to make a profit on each unit sold to a smaller audience with the likelihood that their potential 9th gen console will likely have the same fate, or they can come up with something revolutionary that appeals to the extended market beyond current video games and create a new audience for their hardware.

They're looking into medical "entertainment" apps and equipment currently.

The Wii U will in all likelihood go down in history as another Game Cube in terms of market impact and percentage.

Wii U succesor will be released late 2015, just my prediction based on previous trends lets wait a year.
