If I could only play on one console/computer going forward (this is how I interpret the question) then I would go with Wii.

It plays all Wii games, all GCN games, plus it has a ton of games from N64, SNES, NES, Genesis, Master System, TGX16, Neo Geo, etc.

Still, I hope it never comes to that

Without backwards compatibility I would choose the SNES or Xbox 360.
