Should Nintendo add a Trophy system?

Yes, it would create a be... 133 66.50%

No, it would be pointless. 51 25.50%

I don't know. 16 8.00%

It depends... I think reward systems are good in general, but only if they offer some sort of tangible game benefits. I really enjoyed the way the system worked in Smash Bros, Kirby Air Ride, Mass Effect, and Kid Icarus Uprising, where accomplishments were tied to new items, characters, or even just a simple trophy. In other games where there is no in game benefit, I'll only go slightly out of my way for an achievement.

People enjoy them, so Nintendo should do it, but only if they could do it in a Nintendo way. I would love for them to tie it in to club Nintendo or the DDP program.

They should've added it like when sony and ms did it

There's literally no reason why anyone should be saying no to this. I'd personally turn trophies off because I think they're retarded, but it's just as retarded to not include something that the consumer wants.

I dont see why not.

It would certainly give me one more reason to get a Wii U.

After I beat a Nintendo game, I usually have no reason to replay it, unless it was truly amazing. When I finish a PS3 or PS4 game, I have a "reason" to replay the game and attempt to get some of the trophies I missed on my first playthrough for fun. Trophy systems add a lot of replay value to games I probably would have never replayed on my own. They also seem to add a better sense of national or international community among gamers. When playing Nintendo games, the experience feels isolated, not that is necessarily always a bad thing... but trophies or an accomplishment system would definitely add a greater sense of connectivity in the Nintendo gaming community.

Anyway, do you think Nintendo should add a trophy system?

@bold: I find that Miiverse makes me feel more connected to my gaming peers than ever before. Being able to share achievements -- real achievements -- with players from around the world is a really great, rewarding feature.

Personally, I think achievement/trophy systems are superfluous, but as long as Nintendo allows players to turn the function off, I'd be fine with it.

Someone on this very forum told me that there were trophies on the Wii U. So I once again got lied to.

There are but they aren't universal.  For example, in Batman Arkham City, you can do the same thing that would earn you an Achievement in the 360 version.  It will pop up on the screen as an Accomplishment or something.  The game will automatically post it to the Miiverse and....that's it.  No big score to add to like on Sony or Microsoft's console.  It's just for that one game and nobody that doesn't look at your Miiverse posts will ever know about it.

So, you were lied to but you weren't lied to.

I can replay a game just fine, that's what people did in the past when trophies didn't exist. We replayed the game... because it was fun. Not to win a stupid trophy.

It might be a gimmick, but it doesn't interfere with gameplay so those who don't like it can just ignore it. It helps give people an incentive to 100% their games (and thus get more playtime out of them because they have something to show for it, even though it's virtual.

they dont need it!

I think they should add a universal stamp system for first-party games (optional for third-party games). The difference between Playstation's trophies, and Xbox's achievements would be that you can actually post the stamps to the Miiverse forums, and your catalog of stamps you can post would expand the more you play games.
