I dont mind day 1 dlc for the most part. Depends what it is though. I mean, if it is dlc that I want it is better to have it for the first play through of the game right?

Like others, I purchased the day 1 Mass Effect 3 DLC, "From Ashes".
It was bullshit and on the disc. Haven't done it since.
| Fusioncode said: It's complete bullshit. There is no reason why a publisher should take away part of a $60 game try to sell it for another $15. |
Believe me, I so wanted to purchase DLC for Prince Of Persia reboot , but priced at $15 plus I got the feeling that it was all part of the finished game, I passed

Reminds me of all the Street Fighter pallet swaps, alternate costumes and more.

Indeed. 100% agree.

MGS?
the only dlc i bought was on Fire emblem awakening. and it really made a difference to my tactics/game play (in a good way)
but, i do wish dlc are 'optional', you don't need to buy it to get the full experience
But money is money =D
Pocky Lover Boy!

I don't. If it's day one it should have been on the disc in the first place.
| CladInShadows said: Ultimately, I don't have a huge problem with it. All DLC is optional. If I feel like I get ripped off, nobody's forcing me at gunpoint to buy it. Also, I don't necessarily agree that all day 1 DLC should have been included on disc. There's a lot of time between the game being "finished" and being released. If the developer felt that this time could be spent working on extra content, I see no reason why it shouldn't be paid for. That said, I miss the days of expansions. You only get them for MMOs these days, it seems. |
That sort of mentality is why it keeps happening. If no one says anything about it then it's perfectly fine by them and they'll continue chopping off content from the main game and selling to you over again.
You have a complete game as the designers intended it to be. Then you cut something out just to make extra money from the people who care about having the original version. This is why I do not buy a game if it features story related or day 1 DLC because I would feel ripped off.
