Forums - Gaming - Disabled Gaming

As some people may be aware if they read my intro post below, I'm a disabled gamer. I have Ehlers Danlos Syndrome, Fibromyalgia, Severe Asthma and other issues that effect my gaming. I can't do any motion gaming as I can't stand, I can't use waggle features on controllers, I don't have good enough balance or accuracy for gyro-sensors, and I have problems with certain art styles and colour combinations which seem to trigger migraines or seizures. I also find, because of my chronic pain and fatigue, that I'm unable to game for prelonged periods of time any more, 2 hours is my limit, and usually 20-40 minutes is my standard, this makes games with excessive cut-scenes or overly long levels difficult for me to play through. I was wondering are there any other disabled gamers here, and if so, how does it effect your gaming and how do you compensate.

Intro thread - http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/thread.php?id=175992 - I go into a little more detail here.

What?! Why would I make something like this up? What would I possibly have to gain from that?

I have epilepsy but I play ALL THE GAEMZ!

Glad to hear it. It sucks to have limitations on your hobbies. So do you not have any trouble with strobe lighting effect. I know there's an indie game called 'Hotline Miami' which I can't even dream of playing as it's nothing more than a fast track to a seizure for me.

Only health issue is being a type 1 diabetic really, games which tend to lower my sugarlvl pretty rapidly are odd puzzle games where a lot of brain work is required, I've been floored once by a prof layton game on the 3ds lol. Most of the time I'd notice the blurring of my vision if my MMOL drops but yeah... if focusing sometimes far too much on a puzzle at hand it can be unhealthy for me.

Why not check me out on youtube and help me on the way to 2k subs over at www.youtube.com/stormcloudlive

That must suck...

Wow, a blind guy playing Ocarina Of Time is something I never thought I'd see. It kinda puts my limitations into perspective when it comes to gaming. In many ways it's quite inspirational.

I have Asthma, but Asthma don't have me. Except when I'm allergic to something.

Sorry to hear all that dude.

Not me, but there's this guy who goes by the name of brolylegs

He is the number 5 ranked Chun Li in Street Fighter 4 in America. Because he has limited use of his hands, he uses his mouth and face to use the controller and perform combos and whatnot. It's pretty amazing the level he is playing at despite his disabilities and the way he is forced to use the fight pad. He's also a really cool guy.

ok.i apologize to u for sayin that.forgive me?
