Forums - Gaming - Sony's strategy regarding PS4 first party

I wonder if Sony were not releasing their first party game gradually on purpose in order to be sure to sell them.

When you think of it, we had Kz SF and Knack for 6 month, then infamous (in march) probably for 3 month, then probably Driveclub for the next 3 month (wich would release at an estimated ~ June) and finally The Order 1886 3 month after Drivelcub is released, wich would be around september/october.

All in all, it's a pretty good strategy since it seems that Playstation 4 sell regardless of the number of games available on the console. People are highly inclined to buy a PS4, with their strategy Sony are quite sure every of their first party game is going to sell a decent amont. And since dev costs keep raising, it's quite important to be sure that a game would sell a solid number. The timing is good since a console has always a poor catalogue at lauch up, it's the right moment to take some dump in sales by using this strategy since there's almost no competition. Plus, to back up this theory their the facts : Despite being quite meh games, Kz SF and Knack sold quite good numbers.

So whadya think ?

Drive club release date was leaked today as april so theory fails in the first sentance

Sony exclusives don't compete against each other, they compete with 3rd party.

Sony's First Party strategy is very brilliant, with them utilizing all their resources including, using Indies, F2p and third party to fill the gap with their exclusives is really working wonders for them. The PS4 being the market leader with 6 million consoles sold, and 14 million in software sales indicate the strategy is working tremendously well, World Wide Studios(15) are all making first party some making multiple games, indicates a very bright future for PlayStation, much like 2009 going forward for PlayStation when the exclusives kept releasing in great quantities, 2016 and beyond will be the best PS4 years, if PS3 is any indication.

Only one person noticed it, and editing twitter posts is super easy.

dunno.

i think driveclub was delayed because, as they said, it needed more time. ...but i think driveclub's continued absence could very likely be intentional as sony has little reason to pump out the exclusives when demand outstrips supply by so much.
