Forums - Sony - Sony creates new jobs to meet demand....

what's the big deal about 26 new jobs that warrant a comment from the actual economy minister herself ? I thought being a minister she would have more important matters to worry about than personally welcoming a meager expansion of 26 new jobs.

It's because it's pretty rare to have electronics being manufactured outside of China. We had a lot of noise when Motorola started manufacturing the Moto X in USA too, even for a small factory. At this point, any assembly line not in China or at least not owned by Foxconn must be praised. Besides that, these specific Wales factory is pretty old and it's a big incentive to local economy.

Sad but true. BTW, the way Russia currently behaves, using its gas  to blackmail many EU countries and reduce their reaction to just empty words, should teach us once more we can't rely so heavily on just one country, much less a powerful and quite ruthless one.

And with the dictatorial government, I would say that China is pretty unstable. You never know when something like the Egypt manifestations will happen. And man, that would be massive there.

"The electronics giant makes a range of its own and non Sony products at the factory including cameras, medical devices and a credit-card sized computer, the Raspberry Pi."

Hmm cameras and medical equipment too. Which makes sense since these are some of sony's more profitable products ;) and as usual nice spin on sony's financial issues.

Why do I fell there was a interesting touch on the beggining of the OP?

Mhmm, Can't wait

PC Specs: CPU: 7800X3D || GPU: Strix 4090 || RAM: 32GB DDR5 6000 || Main SSD: WD 2TB SN850

It's surprising that this thing has so much success... well... at least to me it is.

Sounds good.

Because by commenting on it, they can pretend that it had something to do with them. In the eyes of a government minister, any positive outcome is the result of governmental policy, any negative outcome is either a) the predecessor's fault, or b) some greedy "capitalists" fault.

Welcome to statecraft.

@OP

The Raspberry Pi is a modern miracle, if demand for it is putting food on 26 more tables, that's even better.

I'm sure Sony will find a way to offset this additional spending by firing people on another department somewhere else. j/k

so fire thousands then put out a posting for 26 ok then
