Forums - Movies & TV - X-men apocalypse, already excited?

I really liked the cartoon and the apocalypse storyline. Thought it was the highlight of the show!!!

Now Bryan Singer already announced the 2016 release of X-men apocalypse. I can't wait?

And you?

Apocalypse in the 90s cartoon was absolute badass. He has some of the best quotes from it. "I am not malevolent, I just am." He was the true villain of the series.

In the comics Apocalypse is broken, his goals undefined and he seems lost. He needs a truely skilled writer (or me with my awesome ideas :P) to sort him out but this will never happen if he isn't explored as a character. His 'survival of the fittest' doesn't fit as it used to. He is meant to be some almightly villain yet many of his goals are about preserving the mutant race. He hasn't had much done for him since the 12 storyline, anything since then has been rather pathetic and I'm not including the god awful X-force stories he was in a few years back which didn't follow continuity.

This said for the film, I can see them messing him and it up because they will try and fit him for the general public audience. The ones there only for Hugh Jackman. Trying to explain that he is a mutant from 5000 years ago (The First One) is easy, saying he has total control over his molecular structure because of a Celestial ship/suit he acquired not so much.

So like Day of Future Past, I am but I'm not looking forward to this film.

Hmm, pie.

I hope they don't f*ck it up. I'm waiting for him since the first x-men movie came out. They can do it easily but let's hope for the best! They need to get the same voice as it was in the cartoon.

My worry stems from other X-men/Marvel films and their need for changing the formular of tried and tested characters to fit a new or more marketable model. I mean recently The Wolverine film annoyed me because it wasn't totally in Japanese and they changed Silver Samurai. X-men 3 was a joke and an insult to X-men fans. Less said about Galactus the better. I enjoy the films when they are out but each time I fear for what they change.

I think the actor who played him has passed on but he should definitely sound like that to be sure.

Hmm, pie.

I AM THE APOCALYPSE!!!

My body is ready.

I don't even go to the movies to focus on how loyal the director stays to the comics anymore. If I have a good time watching the movie I have a good time. But I have wanted an Apocalypse movie ever since X1, so you better believe I'll go apesh*t when I get to see the X-Men Apocalypse preview on the big screen. Also I'm not too thrilled with the actor who portrays Bishop.

Can't we all just get along. If not for yourself, do it for the future.

I definitely see some changes to design happening.

In terms of casting I would have gone for the guy that played Kingpin in the Daredevil film, but I think he's dead.

On the film i will wait for one this Summer before having any expectations for this one.
