I doubt it. Wasn't that in response to a question on PS Blog? Seems like it's just a coincidence. Besides, I doubt SCEA is going to miss the boat on Demon's Souls a second time.

But the fact that Miyazaki handed over the reigns for Dark Souls 2 is conspicuous, and a lot of people's suspicion has always been that it was because he's working on a Demon's Souls sequel. So I B_E_L_I_E_V_E!


i thought the rumors always used spiritual successor or spin off.   i've been left with the impression that the smoke is signaling a completely different game that souls fans will be into.   like demon's souls but also "next gen".

They also said that it's Sony's call. Maybe Sony put Demon's Souls 2 into production without telling Atlus. I don't think Atlus has any rights to the franchise. 


Funny, because Atlus is far more commited to the franchise than Sony. They still have the servers online xD

Doesn't really matter as Sony co-developed and paid for it. While I'm very glad Atlus wasn't as stupid as Sony and thought it would do well in West, I don't think that's a fair statement at all.

This should happen, though I didn't play the original on PS3, tried Dark Souls instead. Should I take a step back ?

I played Dark Souls first, as it was the only one on 360. When a friend lend me his Ps3 in exchange for my console for a while (to play each other exclusives and all that), I wanted to play Demon's Souls badly. Don't regret it. While I liked Dark Souls more, Demon's Souls is a beast on its own.

 

My only complain is that the bosses are too damn easy, but other than that, the game itself is a bit more difficult than Dark.

I hope they keep the same name considering Namco and From Software basically just cashed in on Sony's IP name (with a slight variation but still) If Dark Souls 2 is like the others and is a hit with the critics and sells decent then a Demon Soul's 2 game will only capitalize on that popularity for PS4 fans. That would be all advantage Sony and no one could accuse them of "copying" because it was their IP name to begin with.
