Forums - Sony - The PS4 Is Outselling the Xbox One Because It Appeals to 'Swing Gamers'

Ah, so gamers who have no alliances. The soccer moms of gaming.

Outside of internet forums brand loyalty means next to nothing when it comes to gaming. Nobody had a second thought when they switched from Nintendo to Sony, Sony to Microsoft, or Microsoft to Sony.

Sigs are dumb. And so are you!

Cos movies and games have many parralells unlike sports or cars. Id also say being loyal to a car manufacturer is also stupid.

Why not play the BEST games, why not buy the BEST car, no lets respect people that buy shit because there loyal to a company.

Ok, so you are pro choice. Others have loyalties. And im sorry, but no to the movies as similar....as it is VERY hard to spot a "Disney fanboy" talking trash about Universal studios. "Movie maker warz" just doesn't exist

I think the car analogy is perfect. There are a lot of people who buy a car just because it has the badge of there preffered car company on the front. Many of them never even look at other brands or even think about shopping around. They just buy the new version of whatever they are already driving. Same goes for consoles.

Some may see it as "principle" But I see it as being ignorant and/or not caring enough about what you're spending your own money on to take the time and actually do some research. At least when it comes to cars. I think the difference is that when it comes to consoles you get more people who have some misguided sense of loyalty where they see the company that makes the product they have as there "team". So they keep buying that because they feel they have some weird, almost patriotic duty. Which might be worse than just being lazy about it.

Bet with Adamblaziken:

I bet that on launch the Nintendo Switch will have no built in in-game voice chat. He bets that it will. The winner gets six months of avatar control over the other user.

You are all a bunch of swingers.

Although the Xbox One had been selling well out of the gates, it recently came to light that the PlayStation 4 has charged ahead; in fact, in January Sony moved twice as many units of its latest-generation console than Microsoft did. For some, this may come as a surprise, since the Xbox 360 was generally considered to be the dominant console in the many years before these new consoles came about.

Basically: Fifty-one percent of gamers who already owned a PlayStation 3 have bought a PS4; 42 percent of gamers who owned Xbox 360 bought a Xbox One. 14 percent of Xbox 360 owners decided to jump ship and pick up a PS4, whereas only 8 percent of PS3 owners decided to buy an Xbox One instead.

Nearly two-thirds of gamers that owned both a PS3 and Xbox 360 bought a PS4, DealNews said; less than a quarter decided to get a Xbox One.

Looking beyond the numbers, the number one reason a previous-generation gamer hasn't yet purchased a next-gen system - whether it be one, the other, or both - is price.

"... there were notably a higher number of former Xbox 360 users who didn't purchase any new console yet, claiming that the price was too high and that they were waiting for a deal."

Lock if old. It was an interesting read so I thought I would share. Full article is at the link. I only included he graphs.

Who considered the Xbox 360 the dominant system? Only Americans! In the rest of world it got its ass kicked by the Ps3, which the worldwide sales chart at VGChartz clearly shows. Americans were the only ones who failed to realize the Ps3 was the superior system. But at least now they realized the Ps4 is way better and Sony won't try to anally rape them as soon as they get a chance like Microsoft tried during the last E3.
