What made Mandela so notable was that he did come out of jail and say that violence was not the answer. Assuming Apartheid was going to end in some mass slaughter was as commonplace as assuming the nuclear holocaust was coming back in the 70s and 80s. That it didn't end that way is pretty breathtaking.

You can say that but does it forgive everything he has ever done?

Mandela was not a good man by any stretch of the imagination

That he turned away from this is the virtue of the accomplishment. Why do folks like Yasser Arafat get the Nobel Peace Prize?

I just do not see how anyone can defend Mandela after the actions he has done

If white people aren't a part of the discussion, how will they learn anything from it?

Good point.

Let me ask a follow-up for everyone in general: Is there anything white people can contribute to the conversation beyond just listening and responding?

slap sense into them and let them do all the work

Instead of seeking to convince others, we can be open to changing our own minds, and seek out information that contradicts our own steadfast point of view. Maybe it’ll turn out that those who disagree with you actually have a solid grasp of the facts. There’s a slight possibility that, after all, you’re the one who’s wrong.

White people are actually the most discriminated people ever

Really? I guess the colored KKK, Neo-colored-Nazis, Extreme right wing, yellow skinheads are catching up to yall.

which is what like 15% tops of the whole white population, which cause everyone from other races to be racist and judgemental to the whole white population

More like below 5% of the white population are racist, 15% is a really large number.

As I said you intrepret how you want not how they were meant.

7 is the only one I am going to respond too, if you think that a higher % of black people do not get goverment aid than any other race you are delusional

Sure, that might be a chance that blacks might have a higher ratio per capita. Do you have a census?

You cannot respond the rest cause you can't.

How do you think people fought for freedom in the 50's and up worldwide? US turned a blind eye to European colonialism.

How can you talk about Reagan condemning ANC, when the man himself never sanctioned the Apartheid regime like the rest of the world?

How come he never helped the fight for liberation of the oppressed in South Africa?

How the hell you fight for freedom when the people that could help you just want your natural resources? Patrice Lumumba from ex-Zaire was assassinated with the help of US CIA to install the brutal, blood thirsty puppet Moboutu!!

US said f*** you to Portuguese colonies who wanted help to fight the oppressors like US was fighting in 1770's. They turned to the Soviets and Nixon promptly put them on the terror list.

How can you fight like that without taking drastic measures?

Learn the history better man, it avoids plenty of stupid arguments with people. I love US and it's people but nobody is perfect.

I only read the title.

Dude, what the fuck? I'm black but I have friends of many races and it comes up all the time. Nobody gets offended and nobody really cares who says what. You need to open up your mind a bit. There's NOTHING wrong with conversation. I wish there were more of it.
