I'm still waiting to be sold on it, but a lot of people hope it will be the next step 2D gaming > 3D gaming > VR gaming so I'm waiting to experience it first hand.

Me too. Actually I will wait for reviews and more importantly, other gamers reiviews before I get excited. I really hope it takes off but as it stands I am not so sure.

Interesting, the design looks nice anyway but what I want to know is:

Yes.....because the pic in the OP is totally the actual design lol

Looks the same in the link, but maybe that's just the HMZ-T2.
Actually looks like an HMZ-T2 with glued on headphones.

by GDC MS will probably have announced their VR set and sony will get labeled as "me too" again..

Im curious to see how it compares to the oculus rift once its finished.

If it works well, then I'll be interested.

too bad they won't simply support oculus rift (they said the ps4 is too weak but that's just an excuse).
sony will fail with their own solution, they have to.
still getting one.

must-have-list for platforms i don't own yet:

WiiU: Donkey Kong

XBone: Dead Rising 3, Ryse

It would be fantastic for driving games, but im not sure what else.

I really don't see the appeal of VR.

inb4 the last guardian will come out before this

"Hardware design isn’t about making the most powerful thing you can.
Today most hardware design is left to other companies, but when you make hardware without taking into account the needs of the eventual software developers, you end up with bloated hardware full of pointless excess. From the outset one must consider design from both a hardware and software perspective."

The PS4 couldn't achieve higher than PS3 fidelity graphics in VR, as you need a higher framerate for low picture persistency (Oculus guys work with 95Hz at the moment, framerate has to be the same or you get tearing, which totally kills the immersion in VR) and probably higher resolution, as 1080p has actually a very low pixel density at the focal point of your eyes, if the screen is pretty much stretched to cover most of your field of view.
If the Sony prototype really is "ahead of Oculus Rift's Crystal Cove", that means they are using atleast two 1080p screens and hence the device connected to it needs to be much more powerful (or the game much less demanding).
