Forums - Gaming - Long Games--spinoff from Miyamoto's observation--Zelda

miyamoto in a recent interview (see numerous other threads) said that people are busier than ever and will tend to play fewer and fewer games of scope.

yesterday a friend lent me his TW Zelda, and... after 10 minutes in, i'm like, jeez, this game is gonna take me another 100 hours to finish.  forget it.  (motion sickness is also a factor, but that's just me)

4 months after getting my Wii, my favorite game is still Wii sports, by a long shot.  wario comes second, but i lent it out to a friend.

but Zelda has sold over 1 mln copies in America... how many of them actually play it through to the very end?  my friend who lent me Zelda played it for about 10 hours before giving up.

comments on just why Zelda is so popular in the US and how many of you actually finish the game?

Dude, what the hell, u sick or something?! Zelda poowns all wii games, BY FAR!

I played it three times...

1st time 43 hours.

2nd time 57 hours (wanted to see everything and discover everything).

3th time 18 hours (rushtime...).

THE NETHERLANDS

Well, it took me 56 hours to finish the storyline- with 20 hearts, and all golden insects. Another 2 hours in the Cave of Ordeals. Then I spent about another 10 hours looking for all 60 poe souls-re-visiting every level and every area over and over. Spent about 20 hours doing Roll-Goal mini game- all 64 stages. Then went fishing in the lakes.

Total time spent: about 88-90 hours.

never finised it kept wantin to play wii sports =)

I played through it once, around 35 hours with 14 hearts and few bugs or poes.  I would have liked to spend more time but college intervened.  The only reason I was able to finish it was it came out during Christmas break, the same reason I had to rush it.  I'd like to play through it again but I just don't have that amount of time for many games anymore.  Zelda is an exception but I can only do it once.

damnit Lingyis, its people like you that are the reason Capcom has to make a preschool mode on Resident Evil 4.. cause the other "harder modes" are too hardcore.

well... it's also because people like me why the wii is winning hands down over the PS3.

seriously, if there's a really easy mode for those FPS i might actually give it a try.  i miss those 2D shoot them up games, hoping they'll do a remake of a classic one of these days.

so far, from those who have responded... plus me and my friend who lent it to me... that's about 60% who finished Zelda.   that's still a stunning figure to me.

the Wii is an epidemic.

As the gamers get older things like studies, family and jobs get in the way of being able to sit down for hours straight to play a game.

Predictions:Sales of Wii Fit will surpass the combined sales of the Grand Theft Auto franchiseLifetime sales of Wii will surpass the combined sales of the entire Playstation family of consoles by 12/31/2015 Wii hardware sales will surpass the total hardware sales of the PS2 by 12/31/2010 Wii will have 50% marketshare or more by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!!  It was a little over 48% only)Wii will surpass 45 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!!  Nintendo Financials showed it fell slightly short of 45 million shipped by end of 2008)Wii will surpass 80 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2009 (I was wrong!! Wii didn't even get to 70 Million)

I beat TP once in around 42 hours. Haven't picked it up since. I'm not big on replaying games (except for Dead Rising). But, I beat it. Great game. Best Zelda since OoT, and possibly even better than that game.

hmmmm, I wonder why......OH! I know why! The game rocks! You just lack patience. Some of us had to wait 2 years for this game to come out, and we wanted to play it! THIS GAME ROCKS!!!
